So am I to assume that using both of the referenced products works properly and does not trigger any lamp faults or trailer mode?

Correct. Without the lamp out adapter it doesn’t work. I found another cheappo plugin backup light on Amazon and it worked without the adapter was plastic and spit out an error code light on the dash.

I will say it’s not perfect and is a tiny bit of a pain, but it helps a lot.
