The reason I created this thread is to see if production has started, I am worried that we are going to deal with the whole CEL issue that others are having. I was hoping that BMW was going to iron out the issue before production started.

I am already having second thoughts and ordering the M60i.

I am week 19 as well. Ordered early Jan'24.

My understanding is that production will not start on the MY 25 until April. I would hope that they are quite aware of the issues and working on a resolution. I have not heard of exactly what the supply chain issues have been for the 50e that delayed production. Obviously it must be related to the electric portion of the build as 40i was not affected.

Ive had to extend my lease for 2 months which I am fine with. I enjoyed driving the 40i but was looking for something with a bit more power and tq with the ability to also be economical. 50e was perfect fit. Didn't know there were issues until I started reviewing the forum. I would be curious how many 50e's were made vs how many are have CEL issues. I know there is a post on this but its a small sample.

I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved in the 25 model. Maybe a software upgrade or recall for previous to finally get these issues ironed out.

Unfortunately there is no indication that the limited production is related to solving the issues. After talking to some dealer personnel, the error rate from our poll is pretty accurate. They are seeing about 50% having issues of some sort. I think that is reflected on the recent Consumer Reports rating of the reliability. The good news is though that BMW is constantly collecting data and making adjustments to try and find the solutions. I have no doubt that they will, just a matter of what the timing will be.

Thank you guys for providing your input. I am sure everyone is curious or wondering. I just finished going through the Lemon Law in Florida for a 23 Lincoln Corsair PHEV, so I want to make sure I make the right decision and not have to go through it again.

It would be nice if BMW would at least provide an update or a statement that they are aware of the CEL issues and are taking action to rectify it. I think it may help those who are on the fence or made orders feel much more confident in the decision to order one of these.

That would be suicide for them to do that. They don't want to give any publicity to the issue. Only a very, very small percentage of folks are on the fence. They rest never heard of a CEL or what it even is.

I get your point, but getting in front of a situation is always the better way to handle any situation. Yes, it may likely affect the bottom line to a degree, but it could also have a tremendous positive response that the company is standing behind their product rather than keeping it hush hush.

Ultimately, this all may result in a recall or if its only relegated to software, silently send out an upgrade patch.

I placed my order on Feb 10th 2024. I am on status code 111.
I'm in the order bank (as of February 20th), for a MY25 50e. This was not a rollover '24-'25, but a new '25 order. Not sure how long the process will actually take to get an allocation, but I will definitely update when that happens.

Last month less than a handful were issued so likely many are in your situation. Hopefully we should start seeing things go back to normal by Summer.

I reached out to my sales rep at South Motor BMW in Miami and he told me that there are no allocations for MY25 m60i. What do you guys think?

I would imagine at this time of the month that is accurate given they were issued about a month ago.

Do you think I should swith from a 50e to an m60i? I am not looking for performance, I just do not want to get stuck with another car that is going to live at the dealer. Maybe I am over thinking about it. I am hoping BMW will resolve the issue for the MY25 50e.

$10k minimum or more for the M60. I am sticking with my order for the 50e. The issues have been ongoing for long enough that BMW should have a handle on it by now. Perhaps that is why the production was held due to supply chain issues in getting the fix either ironed out or replacement parts into stock. To me, at some point continuing to release a vehicle with now a decent track record for having some issues becomes negligent.

My 40i has been the best vehicle I have ever had. I had zero concerns about getting another one, actually looking forward to it. Seeing all the posts about the CEL issues is certainly alarming. It obviously has something to do with the electric portion of the vehicle as the 40i got the same facelift without the complaints. So they have had a good amount of time to work on this.

I am hoping for the best and not really expecting with worst. For once, I am being an optimist.
