this is what happens when a rock hits the IND painted grill. I was waiting for it to happen but now everyone can see why I'd rather have an OEM black version. I might get this one redone on Cerakote. A local gunsmith is going to charge me $100 for the process.

I’m working with IND on a chip in my painted grille, and they seem to be standing behind their work. Your pic looks like chrome, what’s the deal there.

Doing a quick search I see some plastics can be powder coated using a conductive primer, lower temperature, and a few minutes of heat. Has anyone explored this option for the grill? Pricing?

I'm looking into powder coating too. Seems possible as long as the grille can withstand 350-400F during curing. Seems doable.

no clue. they clearly painted over the chrome because you can't buy any other grill yet. Did yours come chipped?

Thanks, good thing with Cerakote is it'll be a thinner application and might look more OEM, but no gloss black, right?

they can do a flat black with a clear gloss over top which will end up being a gloss black

Apparently the price went up from $280 to $470 for a set so you might want to shop around for them.

Here they are on my 50i

Looks amazing!!!

Figures on the price. That means in terms of Canadian I'm probably $600.

Did you install them or the dealer?

That sucks, maybe you can order them from a decent place for the original $280. If you search the forms people posted links on where you can buy them (don't go through IND). Dealer installed them for me.

Lol. Just saw some links. I sent an email to the dealer and if it's outrages I'll order the ones I saw in the links. I'll grab those and have the dealer install them. Is the Grill only through IND?

Grill is only from IND because they paint it but I don't recommend buying one from them. I paid $500 for the grill which costs $250 for the OEM chrome model and you're paying $250 for paint basically. A local gunsmith with Cerakote mine in gloss black for $100 so that's a better finish + price than IND. Since mine now had a chip in it I'm going to Cerakote the grill which should hold up much better.

Does the added gloss finish over the Cerakote match what is currently on the vehicle? I checked out the website but everything is done in a matte finish. I know plastidip is a different application but I've seen where the final gloss application doesn't quite make it as glossy as the current trim.

So far, it appears. The problem with the grille imo is that they’re painting plastic. I don’t know why somebody hasn’t figured out to replace the plastic slats with solid black slats. It looks like they are removable ....
