I suspect BMW does not want to further increase performance of X5M (or developing a higher power model will cost too much before new generation not worth the cost). BMW still need to keep a gap between M60i and X5M to maintain product differentiation. Thus no increase for M60i as well.

40i, with competition leveling up hp (cayenne 350, GLE 375hp) and new engine available, it is logical to match.

Not too sure what BMW is doing with 50e. It feels BMW is going towards "performance hybrid" but not fully committed for this model, so leave it half way there.

For this, the new B58 variation can explain, electric vano, add port injection. So at least variable timing range is larger, fuel delivery capability increase, contribution to more power.
