Insight on floor mats
Hello all,
I wanted to get some floor mats for my new X5 which is in production. Wondering the differences between some of the more popular brands like weathertech, tuxmat or perhaps BMWs. I'l need some all weather mats since I'm in a cold weather climate Any insights are much appreciated! |

Highly recommend the Tuxmats. My favorite - used on several cars now.

My vote goes to 3D Maxpiders. Fit and finish is really nice and look great in the car.

I put Weathertech mats in my 2016 X3 and they were great at first. They fit well and look nice, but they haven't held up very well over last few years of winters in WI, particularly with salt/washing. They have discolored, warped, and pulled away from the sides of the floor. Do any brands really stand up well to the abuse of winter?

You asked opinion, so here goes.
Weathertech are hard plastic, non-conforming and slippery when wet. I’ve had Husky mats, they’re “softer,” rubber-like and I’d choose them 109% over WT. 3D Maxspider I had recently in my Acura. Admit I’m impressed abd they look a little higher-end, not “industrial” like the other two I’ve mentioned. They also clean nicely. I’ve got the BMW liners now. They look nice but no read on longevity. The cargo mat has a nice design. The BMW label design element isn’t obvious (except for the design offset itself) so that’s not necessarily the reason to get them. I do prefer to stay branded with accessories however. |

BMW makes two types of mats for the G05 X5. The design is essentially identical except for the edges. The "mats" have a lower edge, while the "liners" have a higher edge which is much better in climates with a lot of snow or rain. You can see the difference in the pictures below.
I have had the liners in mine for 3 winters now and I really like them. One of the things that people rarely discuss is the how well they clean up after the winter. Every spring I remove them, wash them using a little soapy water with a soft bristled brush and they look like new again. Well worth the cost in my opinion. Btw, I also really like the pattern on them and the feel of the material, which seems to be somewhat of a cross between plastic and rubber. They fit very snugly and are held in place with a very simple velcro-like material.

I swear by this cargo mat. Best ever! A variety of colors available to match interior. The one from my 2020 Cayenne fits my M60i like a glove. Color matched carpet on one side. Non slip rubber on the other. I repeat, a perfect fit including cutouts for tie down rings. Buy at www.suncoastparts.com

I love the all weather mats from this place
https://www.lloydmatsstore.com/ We’ve put them in probably 5 cars. They’re all weather but better looking in my opinion, don’t fade and the little round cups hold the dirt etc so it’s not sliding all over the mat. |

It’s kind of like a mix of in between the two. It’s not a hard rubber like the OEM all weather liners but also not like cloth either, if that makes sense.

Yes. Fits my M60i. Will also fit 40i. I can’t speak for 50e. Pic 1 is Carpeted side. Pic 2 is rubberized/non-slip side. Cutouts for tie downs is perfect. It has less than 1” of play on the sides.

I ended up with Tuxmat. The OEM ones are nice but doesn't cover the hump in the rear, and not as much coverage in the front as Tuxmat. 3DMaxpider has even less coverage, especially front passenger at the front. I didn't want to go with WeatherTech as you have to install the anchors and can't use without.
Tuxmat seems like the best of them but not without complaints. The front of the rear mat "feeds" into the vent under the front seats - kind of... And there isn't a catch for snow/ice off the gas pedal like the OEM ones. |

Do they have a cargo mat as well? It is listed on their Facebook page for X5, but I can't see it on the ordering website. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid...09937917437565 https://www.facebook.com/tuxmat/post...Ycshf6FBQN2pKl |

Got this from their fb chat
Hi there, thank you for your interest in TuxMat. SuperTrunk mats for the X5 have recently completed development and we're waiting for inventory to arrive in our warehouse. We don't have an ETA for their availability yet. |
