D&H Fee increasing on May 1st

Starting May 1st, the Destination and Handling fee will be increasing from $995 to $1,175. Those with an existing custom order should have price protection.

It was way overdue. I believe all other manufacturers have been charging more for a couple of years now.

Knew it was only a mater of time that D&H crossed into 5 figure land. Still no PCD complementary hotel with the price increase.

Thanks for the update. Yeah other manufacturers have been way more than that forever. Just a matter of time I guess. All we need is a other price increase on anything.

Interesting. My MY25 X6M order (due in mid-April) already shows the increase.

Not a hill to die on but it appears I will be charged prior to May 1.

Interesting. I just checked my build sheet/invoice and it shows the $995. Guess we'll see at official signing if it changes or not.

Would be kind of crappy you take delivery before May 1st and they charge you for it.

The problem in Baltimore may well result in an increase for BMWs and MINIs assembled in Germany.

I'm expecting a week 18 build for my 50e so likely after May 1st. Will discuss with my dealer when it is time for delivery.

I didn't think about that. Boy, incoming vehicles are going to take a lot longer to get here now. Gonna be crazy couple years until they get that back up and running.

The VW Group (incl Audi and Porsche) port of entry is Sparrows Point which is on the ocean side of the collapsed bridge. It should experience minimal, if any, impact. I don't know about the BMW port of entry but they can re-direct ships to any number of east coast Ro-Ro ports.

The crane is supposed to be onsite tonight. I would think that they are going to try and clear the channel relatively quickly in order to get the shipping resumed. BMW will likely just process the Baltimore bound vehicles in NJ until the channel is opened.

The VDC is on the bay side of the bridge so ships can unload vehicles but not sure how efficient they can move them out given that the bridge is the main exit highway for trucks.

The D&H increase is subsidizing the EV R&D budget. Port of Baltimore has zero affect on SC manufacturing, as I belive 40% of BMW’s sold by BMW NA are manufactured in South Carolina. West coast market goes through Panama Canal, south east goes via Charleston and Brunswick.

18% increase is suspicious so close to the unfortunate Port of Baltimore bridge collapse. Wouldn’t be surprised if the FTC and/or Congress investigates this increase capitalizing on the disaster to raise D&H. Too much of a coincidence.

$1,175 doesn’t seem bad to me compared to the D&H Rivian charged me. It was $1,800. That’s a rip off!

My daughter’s 2023 Mazda CX-30 was $1375 for the delivery, processing, and handling fee.

Agreed, Ferrari charged $3950 and it did not include a trip to Italy.

Nationwide shortage of truck drivers is having a major impact on prices of everything.

I mean, I just paid ~$30 to send via FedEx Ground a 15lb box to San Diego.

Using the same ratio with weight, an X5 should be ~$10,000, so I'll take the $1,175 and shut up.
