Not sure I follow you. Are you thinking it will sag after some time? 7 year old Lexus I traded in had no wrinkles except for one minor crease on the driver's left seat side where I got in/out.

Funny you should ask, I actually know that one because I asked my dealership that when I had it in for service. I was thinking it was just stuck and was afraid I'd break it by tugging at it.

"The middle one does not raise up and down" was the answer. I just let short passengers ride there now

Not a manual adjustment, electrical/mechanical. Done with a knob on the side of the seat.

Also, if the 'waves' (ah, let's for the sake of the thread shift to another naming for the 'feature') are like that, I could live with it.

Wow. IMHO that new aluminum trim in the 45e is hideous! Looks like some sort of Pep Boys stick on decal for trim.

And the new 2-tone interior looks pretty bad too...again in IMHO. Makes the interior look "choppy" and less cohesive and sorta cheap. I do like some 2 tone interiors, but just not that one in the X5. Like the Ivory/Blue interior that is coming looks amazing!

That sounds neat. Can you make a little video of that since I can't seem to find that feature in the manual?

I think he's referring to the driver and passenger one's.

Do you think a few wrinkles in the back seat will matter after a year to two? I have had the car for 4 months now and I'm already getting used to the wear and tear of daily driving (w/ kids). My car's wrinkles are similar to yours.

Nice to know we have something in common. (I'll show you mine if you show me yours.)

Being that we're retired and rarely have back seat passengers I'm not worried about them. I was just asking a generic question about leather in general. I had a local "Genius" opine that they'll shrink over time. Right. When I asked about why they didn't "style" them the same on the front seats he just replied, "BMW does some weird things sometimes and I really don't know why."

So tough shit for my wife when she sits in the back between the two car seats? One of the reasons we got the X5 is that it's wide enough for one child seat on each side and a regular adult in he middle.

Wait a minute? Center? Beats the helluva me. Without looking I'd bet it's stationary.

Yes I know, that is why I was asking since the answer was not accurate.

This is correct. The manual states "To improve the view to the rear, the outside head restraints can be folded back."

Defeating the safety feature unless the center part of the headrest aligns with about the center of head to prevent whiplash if hit from behind. Stuff ya learned in driver's ed after that 6th ticket you landed over the last 5 years.

Do what wrickem does. Have Shorty ride in the middle.

Agree it's a bit of a design flaw for anyone who isn't exactly the right height who sits in the rear centre! At least it will break their neck and make it quick & clean.

Yes, and the "fold back" part of the outside ones is obvious. What the manual doesn't state is whether the middle one slides up and down, which is why I had to ask the service department before I started yanking on it like a monkey until I broke it.

Any semi-competent lawyer would have a case against BMW for this. Why not provide a functioning head restraint for the center passenger? is there a warning in the owner's manual for those above say, 5' ?

well if a tall person can fit in the center I'd be surprised

It is a pass with Mercedes QC. Was watching an A35 AMG video, and saw these rear seats.
