i cant believe this has creeped back onto the first page!
my new car has arrived in UK this week, due at dealer next week, have just agreed with him, they will not register the car in my name or fill out any paperwork, until i have seen the car and gone over it with them. given the email i received "we hope the new seats are ok" - he readily agreed. |

I actually ordered the X5 last week. I was on fence for weeks....X5 or Cayenne. I tried to justify the $16K Porsche premium, but being retired had to consider value proposition. My sixth BMW or my second Porsche...fell on the BMW side of the fence. I was told that the wrinkle issue was recognized and being addressed. Hopefully I'll be happy with the rear seating. If it looks like the one pictured on my earlier post....Cayenne, here I come.

Taking delivery of mine this evening. April 17th production date and Merino leather. I will let you all know how the seats look on what is a pretty recent build. I for one am expecting wrinkles to be exactly as in previous cars, but we'll see.

looking forward to hearing how your new car looks. yesterday the explanation at the dealer was: our Merino leather is laid, not stretched over the seats... and that's why there are wrinkles... It provides better comfort. Customers be like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfJhMfOPWdE |

Car is really nice though. Only one issue with the door top on the passenger side like AndroidRobot had. Salesman already put in the warranty claim. GG |

Based on pictures so far, it looks like Merino suffers the least from the the wrinklage. I'm picking up my X5 tomorrow with extended Merino in black and I'm hoping this holds true. I'll post pictures either way.
One thing is for sure, this thread has more pull than the rear seat leather assemblers! |

"If you don't want to have these wrinkles, you have to take the more stiff leather (Vernasca) instead of Extended Merino"... and I went the Homer Simpson way... 'sure you have my full and undivided attention' |

And he was 100% wrong. Vernasca and Merino are designed with the wrinkles/ruching/etc., only sensatec does not get them.

I agree. The rear seat in our X5 has wrinkles just like the seats in my wife's RX. They look OK to me and if this is the worst thing about the car, I am good with that.

Why do some people hyper focus on this topic? I know the X5 is soo friggen good and finding faults are what many live for but the phrase “jumping the shark” is appropriate.
