Coding transferable via Bimmercode

Hi, all

On my previous F15 i bought a Vgate iCar Pro OBD11 diagnostic interface. I purchased the app via bimmercode and started coding. My question is now i have a G05 M50d. Ive tried to access the coding today and got this message.. "This control unit is not accessible with the used OBD adaptor. Does this mean i need to purchase a new one and pay the APP fee again?

Must of been 4 years ago last time i used it so im a bit rusty on how this works.

Many thanks, Poolie..

Bimmercode is one of the few programs out there that actually seems to maintain their help pages: https://bimmercode.app/adapters/

If it's in the same platform (iOS or Android) and downloaded/installed using the same account that originally bought it, you won't have to pay again. Why not just try it?

You won't need to purchase Bimmercode again however you may need a new adaptor. When I moved from an F series car to a G series the wireless adaptor I had previously used would not give me access to all modules in the new car. I ended buying a cable vs wireless. And all modules became available and coding was at least 5x faster.

I actually had to buy two cables from amazon to make it work...fire (iphone) to USB female and USB male to OBD.

Hope this helps

This is what I did, and I would highly recommend it over the Bluetooth OBD. I initially used the OBDLink MX+, which worked, but was slow. I use my iPad to code and bought a Geochem Lightning to Ethernet adapter, and the BMW E-SYS Enet OBD device. I’m more comfortable with the direct connection, and the speed difference is amazing.
