I have the auto and manual would not bother me - I only use the top portion, mostly, and love having the option to open the bottom if needed. This should be a non issue as a delete.

I have a production date of 4/12/2022 currently in 150 status. I don't see the manual tailgate code on here, does that mean I have the power tailgate?

Just got my build sheet to review. Going into production on week 16 and I see the manual lower gate with the minus $150.

Where would I find any deletes if they were applied to my pending build? Is something that shows up in mygarage?

You can ask your CA to run a Vehicle Inquiry or you can use the F12 process to see if the code is there for the lower tailgate delete.

Is yours a 40, 50 or 45e?

I took delivery on a 2022 40i on 3/31 (3/24 production date) and can confirm that mine came with a automatic lower tailgate. Life is good.

How can you check for an updated build sheet. Mine is set to be be completed 4/7 per my dealership but he didn’t send me an updated build sheet and I can’t seem to find that option if it’s in the MY BMW website.

I got the 32W powered liftgate delete on my order and told the dealer I won't take delivery. I'm going to place an order for the Volvo XC90 Recharge. The Volvo dealer said there is a 3-4 month lead time, but at least the hatch opens on it's own. I still like the X5 better, but only as a fully functional product. I have no idea if Volvo is doing the same bait-and-switch as BMW, but I guess I'll find out. If the powered liftgate comes back, I'll probably reorder the X5 and see which one comes in first. Not the kind of racing I thought I'd be doing with my new car, but at least it would be exciting

Keep in mind that it is only the lower lift gate is manual. Rather than jumping to Volvo maybe just wait a month and see how things are looking then. It could be the supply is back. Good luck.

Given the timing you are probably fine but you can ask your CA to run a new Vehicle Inquiry. You can also us the F12 method to look at the options. Here are the instructions for Safari and Chrome:

Yep, I'm aware. I've been following this thread closely. The dog can't operate a manual liftgate, so it is a must for our family. I don't want the dog hurting herself trying to jump out/in with the liftgate still up. Not to mention the scratches on the liftgate from the attempt. I actually really liked the design of the hatch/tailgate as it would keep the paws off the paint. BUT automation is the selling point for me there.

We're just getting tired of BMW taking the luxury out of their luxury vehicles AFTER we place the order. If they offered retrofit options once supply chains recovery, I wouldn't even flinch... even if I had to pay for the retrofit. My wife is so fed up, she is totally off BMW right now. Which is what made us take a second look at Volvo. The new Recharge powertrain has 455hp/523ftlb total, 35 miles of EV range, and 600lbs lighter than the 45e. That's not too shabby. The Recharge wasn't out when we first started shopping. I like the X5 infotainment better and I'd bet it is more of a "driver's car", but I don't need to hit the corners hard in the family wagon (the dog would definitely hate that, haha).

All compromises considered right now... it's kind of a toss up. So which ever company can get me a fully functional product first wins!

Perhaps you can teach her a new trick. I'm sure they would rather not remove options but given the supply chain issues I think they chose the correct strategy. Rather than not producing the vehicles or having them sit on a lot waiting for parts, they produce what they can. It causes some customer consternation but this way they can keep the revenue flowing not only for profits but also for more innovations.

Oh I totally get the business decision and I know BMW gives zero Fs about what BeMyWingman on the X5 forums thinks about those decisions... just venting my frustration with the situation.

And the dog is 7 years old, so her max leaping height will only decrease from here on out. Unless the new trick is learning how to fly, she ain't making it over the gate, haha.

Genius Idea Edit:

Although, now that I think about it... If I installed a paw-friendly release button and train her to hit the button then nudge the unlocked tailgate down, that would work for the exit. And if I also attached a looped rope connecting to the upper area of the tailgate and teach her to bite the rope and pull the gate shut after she hops in the back... that might solve the problem! What do you guys think? Should I market this to BMW as the next must have accessory? "K9 Operated Liftgate Package (trained operating dog not included)." They could easily sell that as a $2k add-on and I can just watch the royalty checks roll in!

Looking forward to a new X5M50i!
32W Manual Lower Tailgate appeared in status 111 "Order Accepted" options list on 4/2. F12 trick after it got to 112 status on 4/5 no longer shows 32W; week 17 build.
Fingers crossed that the Manual Lower Tailgate was a temporary thing. Would prefer the automatic option but this is not a show stopper for me.

Manual Lower Tailgate?

Just spoke with my CA today. My 45E is scheduled for week 19 and has the manual tailgate with $150 credit. I'm at status 111 currently. Hoping that once I hit 150, the deletion won't be there anymore. Not a deal breaker for me though.

Status 112 for my 45e. 32W deletion present. Hoping it goes away as well. Harmon Kardon 688 is present.

So my 45e was built on 4/11 currently awaiting carrier, checked F12 no sign of the tailgate delete and verified with the dealer that the only delete is the trackpad on the Idrive controller.
