According to the BMW pricing guides, both the iX and the 50e come with the same 4T3 Flexible Fast Charger.[/QUOTE]

NOTE: many refer to the charging cable as the "charger", but that's technically incorrect. the 50e's 7.4kW charger is actually inside the vehicle. maximizing its charging power depends on the voltage.

if i had the 50e, it would actually charge a little less than 32A because my voltage is 247V.
using the formula above: 7.4kW (7400W) divided by 247V = 30A
if i had exactly 240V, then it would charge at 30.8A. even though 240V x 32A = 7680W (7.68kW), remember that the 50e's charger is capped at 7.4kW which explains why it won't charge exactly at 32A with a 240V Level 2 device.
Thank you for the explanation. Very helpful. I'm starting to understand the world of plug in hybrids. Hopefully by the time I take delivery I'll know what the heck I'm doing so I don't end up "frying" my new car!

I ordered the ZMP M Sport Package with the 1TD 20" M Star-spoke bi-color wheels, style 740M with all-season run-flat tires. Is there any reason or suggestion that this is not the best decision. Appreciate any feedback.

Got an email from my sales guy today that they have an April production slot for my 50e. Concerned about the black fineline as that's what I wanted to go with my Ivory leather. I guess we'll see what happens when he tries to enter the code.

And on that point, does it bug anyone else that a vehicle that easily surpasses 80k doesn't come standard with leather interior? Just me? OK...

Here's what I'm hoping to get:

2024 X5 xDrive 50e

C35 Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic
VAEW Ivory White Extended Merino Leather
ZDY Driving Assistance Professional Package
ZPK Parking Assistance Package
ZPX Executive Package
ZRC Climate Comfort Package
3AC Trailer Hitch
456 Multi-contour Seats
4LM Fineline Black Wood Trim
1SF/738 20” V-Spoke Wheels, style 738

The pricing guide has been out for a few weeks and dealers have been taking orders. The allocations came out this week.

Not sure what you mean by "Active Steering" but I ordered the "Driving Assistance Pro Package" on my 50e.
As far as I know only build #'s have been assigned, when the dealer inputs the order in BMW's order bank, which I have.
We'll know what's on the car and a build date when we get a VIN#.

They're referring to IAS, which is not available in the US on the 50e.

Got a production number last week and the dealer indicated an April 10 start of production. Loaded 50e. Black Sapphire / Black leather like my 2003 X5/4.6is. No red brake calipers - out of stock. So I’m going blue.

Anyone have 240V plug details. Starting to plan the wiring in the garage…
NOTE - My Build on the BMW site shows the Flexible Fast Charger as standard equipment on my 50e.

Update - looking at a video on the Flexible Fast Charger, the 240V pigtail is a NEMA 14-50 which is rated for 40/50A breaker, but the outlet limits the max current to 40A. Using the 80% safety rule for loads running for a long period, the BMW ”cord set” will use 32A which gets to the max charging power of 7.7 kW which is the capacity of the onboard charger the 50e.
No need to get a high end wall unit in my opinion since most of the extra features to control charging are built into the X5 and the smartphone app.

2024 production hasn’t even started and they are already out of red calipers? If they didn’t have the parts, why did they make red the default caliper color for the m sport pro package?

I agree. I've been trying to read everything I could find. I'm installing a 50A breaker and running 6 gauge wire to my NEMA 14-50 outlet. I don't anticipate taking the supplied charging cable along with me unless I'm going on some kind of road trip. I'll find a nice looking wall mounted cord hook to hold the cable when not charging.

I already had an order in for an i4. Same dealer told me I’d get the first allocation of x5 50e. He sent me the build/price sheet and I ordered from that. I see here others have received their order number.

Got an email today saying mine still doesn’t have order number. He also said it takes 8-10 weeks for him to get it starting from the production date. Oregon delivery. I was very surprised at that time frame since it looks like cars coming from Germany are about the same amount of time.

He has no allocation for you unfortunately. Once the order is assigned to an allocation the production number is immediately available.

His delivery time is also off. We have been seeing 3-4 weeks to the PNW.

Yes I understand no allocation for me. But makes me wonder. I’m supposed to be first. Other people getting allocations last week. He says 8-10 weeks. He’s a car salesman. His timeline showed 4 weeks on rail from SC to PNW. My i4 info shows 30 days from Germany to West coast. Do I believe anything?

When you say we have been seeing 3-4 weeks….who is we?

All dealers received their allocations last week. It could be that your dealer has such a low volume that they didn’t receive any but we have not heard about that.
