For the media screen - ux journey is not well though.

I have MY 23 330e with the new interior (x5 will have very similar) and every time I drive this car I want to get the "old" iDrive 7 and the instruments cluster.

For example, in iDrive 7 when you go to settings, you see a list of features splitted by functional modules (lights, security etc.) and the navigation between them is very organic and easy.

In iDrive 8 each module is represented by a separate app and you have to pick the right one to change settings and you have to jump from one to another if you're doing multiple things.

Also, some functionality is limited vs iDrive 7. Sports display for example, fuel consumption etc.

Given that BMW introduced iDrive 9 based on Android, there is a little chance they're going to invest enough resources to make iDrive 8 (and 7) better.
Hey. Your experience do resonate with me. I would miss the Blue-on-Black angular yet smooth cluster gauge.

However, I was just introspecting the other day and this thought crossed my mind. Here me out..

There is possibility that we are having issues accepting ID8 because we are too comfortable with ID7?

Everything would feel out of place in ID8 if you have used ID7 for years and have build a mental muscle memory.

Possibly someone migrating to BMW from from MB/RR would not have these second thoughts since everything will be new for him and they will just accept it for what it is..

What do you think?

Seems like BMW went all in to diluting the M brand with all their recent models. From offering M colors to M mirrors to now even the same M engine with the S68.

Not sure how they are going to expect their customers to spend that extra 20-30K on full M models when they are making them less and less exclusive.

There shouldn't be a problem with that, there is a night and day difference between the M Performance and M vehicles. The engine/HP is probably the least of the differences.

I agree - and there will always be some uniqueness to the full M. others have also narrowed the divide in styling - MB AMG (53/63/63s), Audi (S/RS).

I just saw a story on BMW Spain IG account with a short video only showing taillights and front light and the rest covered in shadows.
Release may be imminent, today or tomorrow.

Just watched the instagram post. I´m a bit confused, i don´t remember seeing a bottom part DRL in the closed room at the Brussels autoshow.

In the instagram post you can clearly see a bottom DRL part being lit up before the main beams come on.

Might just be a start up animation of sorts for the main beam?

No, you should not regret it at all. Congratulations on your new X5. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

Congrats!

I don't think either choice is bad. You're lucky you had a reason to go one way instead of the other. Being stuck in the middle trying to decide to get LCI or pre-LCI is more unfortunate IMO.

I'm on the opposite side, forced to wait for LCI since its too close to the cutoff to do a custom order with individual color for pre-LCI.

Yeah you said it. If you already have this feel, I would cancel the order and eat the deposit.

The most resistance is coming from existing BMW owners - that's understandable. Those who are buying for first time may like the new styling, simpler and cleaner view. They don't know what they are going to lose

From the threads I've seen here, its a polarizing choice lol.
Going for Urban Green, and planning to put XPEL Stealth over it.
