Intresting, the 45e Looks decent. The flip side will be the weight, lack of 3 seat row and the pathetic small e engine. Driving on this alene is embarresing, seeing the 45e have about the same power as the old 40e it's really not enough, to bad! The e engine should be about 200 hk, the old engine was more suited, though I6 is always nice!

Was undecided on whether I would renew my BMWCCA membership, as I wasn't sure I would be replacing my two cars with BMW. This car does it. The 50 mi electric range will do 100% of local use, and I'll have the 6-cyl for trips. Just completed a 6000 mi road trip in the X5 40e and returned 35 MPG, with no en route charging. ONE BIG CHANGE I WOULD LIKE: Either add a "B" point in the shifter which engages strong regeneration, like the Volvo; or add a software select for strong regeneration. I really miss the "one-pedal" driving of my i3, AND this would increase the range on electric only in city driving. My X5 40e lease ends on 11/20, so I'm in luck! Means that I can get a new M340i when my 330e lease ends on 5/20 as my "fun" car, as the X5 will do all the local duty. I understand that it'll be a "mild" hybrid and that's a good thing, as I won't need to keep it on a maintenance charger, because of non-daily use.

This is great news for us. As current 40e owners this is a welcome upgrade.
Inline 6, more combined power, and most importantly larger battery. When this is available here we will be upgrading.

I'm not bashing anything. Look at the recent news and model lineup with the G Series SUV's...X2-M35i, X3, X5-40i & 50i, and now this X5-45e. On the car model lineup, we are right around the corner from the new 3, the G-Series 5 & 7 are both gorgeous and a great refresher, the M550i is an absolute monster. IMO, in the last year, there couldn't be a more exciting time to be a BMW owner. They've done a great job of creating a harmony between sport, performance, and luxury, despite continued growing regulations. BTW, I contribute plenty to these forums. Anyhow, I'll be in line for my next G-Series, be SUV or Car, happy to join me, I'll bring the food, drink, and vitamins. |

Maybe I missed it - anyone know if this plugs in with 120V or is it 240V? Figuring out the housing infrastructure improvements that would need to be made.
Or is it it a hybrid voltage where it just charges slowly on 120V? I guess the advantage is the electric range isn't insanely large (50 miles) on all battery like a Model X (237-289 miles). Edit - think I found a good amount of information here: www.bmwcharging.com | looks like some flexible options. |

I like that this looks like a regular X5. If they release the "INext iX3" in it's current visual state, I'm changing brands. I already deal with the i3 "HEY EVERYBODY...I'M DRIVING AN EV" and won't continue that trend once it leaves. Fortunately, as mentioned previously, there will choices. Totally agree on plug ins. 50-60 miles is the sweet spot for me. Hoping the 3 series E version will provide similar EV range. Ive seen the Audi test cars around Cali. Since BMW copies them and Merc, maybe they'll continue to follow and make their "I" cars closer to standard production models. (hint hint) |

I guess you mean 110v vs 220v right? (at least here in US) |

Why you even buy this car if you don't want to use that sweet I6 that defines BMW and has more than half the performance every day? Just buy a Tesla man....
