Aftermarket Black Grille
Has anyone tried any of the $150-$200 black grilled? Our car is a lease so I'm not very worried about durability. As long as the molding is of good quality which most Taiwanese body parts seem to be. I can't seem to find the part at the dealership and the IND version seems a bit pricey for something aftermarket though I know they have quality stuff.
I'm just wondering if the $150-$200 ones on eBay are worth getting. |

Quite a few members here are using them since the BMW grills were not available. If I recall correctly all were satisfied with the quality and fit. You should be able to find a thread or two about them.

Yep, love mine. Was from eBay and has held up well to winter.

Yap. Holding up really well. This is literally the one most of us got in 2019 that was "the eBay black gloss grill": https://www.ebay.ca/itm/G05-X5-2019-...t/283468032800 The side vent bonus is new.

Here’s the OEM one. Only $226 so why bother with aftermarket?

Thanks everyone. I did a cursory search and couldn't find any results. Looks like the aftermarket ones are probably just as good as OEM.

I was one of the early adopters of one of these aftermarket grills, also bought off eBay.
Purchased mine from an eBay seller in Taiwan, black gloss grill (with no night-vision). I have since compared with the OEM black grills in the dealership, and I would say it is at least equivalent to the OEM, if not slightly better (in heaviness and hardness). In terms of how its holding up, I've had mine on my car since early October 2019 (~5 months), and it still looks brand-new and glossy - like I only put it on yesterday, so VERY happy with mine. As the OEM version is now readily available and dropped significantly in price, I'd probably just go for that now. |

I have noticed that BMW one was also made in China or Taiwan. Quality is about the same as at least AutoTecknic's one. That's why BMW able to offer at the same price as aftermarket one. The only difference, aftermarket products have more room for discount. So I can always work out the pricing.
