As for the quality comment, you are exactly right! I've had some Old Navy jeans that met the looks category but the fit was not where it needs to be nor the quality. The difference between Old Navy jeans and some Japanese selvage is night and day. The guy in Nashville that makes custom jeans swears that his jeans will last you the rest of your life. I prefer to keep the skin on my knees. I only make this comment because I remember these shits when I was a kid. I couldn't bend my legs in them. Quote:

i didn't know spending more than $200 on jeans was an issue all my pants are Rock Revivals! I have 12 pairs that I bought throughout the last 7 years maybe? I wear them daily whether it's casual day or going out. they're comfortable, look good and even after hundreds of washes they look brand new. i usually buy a pair each year if they have anything i like. i also have a few Abercrombie and Fitch jeans i paid $200 for. i never think twice when buying shoes, watches, shirts and accessories unless the wifey says it's too much. even the money i spend on my tattoos is crazy but maybe it's because i can financially afford it. i have a couple of guy friends who wear the same Levi jeans 7 days a week and just a simple t-shirt and we would have discussions on how they live simple lives with the basic necessities but yet they make more than $100k a year. cheese and rice i just spent $1k on a freakin Note9 so what makes that any different than a pair of $200 jeans?

Oh, yes! Back in 2000 I bought them Hero(?) then. At Walmart. 17-18$ per pair.
Just couldn't find anything better around: a dedicated Wrangler store's owner told me he disregarded 20X (I wore ) while I disregarded Cowboy Cut he only had to offer because they could stand on their own without me inside - I favoured softer cloth. So the Heroes were extremely comfortable, fitted perfectly but weren't durable and looked just as cheap as they were. Not seeing myself of the kind I comfortably returned to 20X upon occasion. |

I've always pretty much wore Levi's 514 but recently the wife got me some from American eagle and I'm really starting to like them. AE are a bit softer than Levi's which is good in the office but I wear my Levi's when I'm spending all day out

there are jean enthusiasts the same way there are car enthusiasts. if you can't understand why someone would pay $300 for jeans, then you're the jeans equivalent of a camry driver. nothing wrong with it, but you're making the same comments that camry drivers would make about people who buy bmw's.
the only thing i would tell the buyers of fashion brands like 7 and AG is, you're not paying for better quality over GAP and Uniqlo. that's fine if you are buying for other reasons like fit or style, but i'm just saying. the only fashion brand that makes great quality jeans that i've seen is Dior Homme, but they're like $400-600. of the Japanese selvedge brands, my faves are Flat Head and Sugarcane. |

Aren't Flat Head and Sugarcane both sewn with cotton thread? I know it's a throwback thing, but I've got to have poly-cotton construction thread. Many Japanese brands get a little carried away with hitching themselves to 1950's Levis methods.

I've read this years ago... I'd rather wash them and throw them out if they get worn. Just me. |
