Should be an awesome SUV. I am still very impressed by the regular version so I can only imagine how much better the M will be. Can't wait to see yours once you pick it up.

The F16 handelt great and I can imagine how much better this one will be.

Will post pictures and some dragy times like 0-60 and 60-130 times after break in period.

Also some results after Modes

r33_RGSport would the RC be ready right away or do you need some changes to do?

I am hoping so.

If I or RaceChip USA can get hold on a car for data-logging before Germany, we should be able to put something together faster.

Getting ready to replace my 340 Performance as it comes on lease. Had the previous generation X5M, which may have been the best all around vehicle I have ever had.

Tried the X5 M50i today and, to be honest, in the city I think it has all that I need. I loved have the top dog in the last model, but really don't think I will take advantage of everything it has to offer.

The clincher, though, may be that the lease rate is currently 1.99% for the M50, and with loyalty, that goes down to 1.24%. Hard to pony up the extra $30K CDN to get to the X5MC when the lease rate for that is 5.99% (5.25% with loyalty reduction).

I was all set to order the F95 tomorrow in carbon fiber/sakhir which would be a beautiful combo at least on paper. 3 different dealers will offer at most a 3k discount off the 118K MSRP. I'm not impressed with the photos of the exterior of the new X5M to say the least. I find the interior of the the 2020 X5 M50 I drove cluttered and not impressive either (especially the gauges). And it's hard to want to get into the first year of this beast knowing there will be improvements and kinks worked out for next year. If anything it seems the first year should have the largest discount. Funny that when the car will be at its finest iteration (probably 2024ish) it will be available at its lowest price. I REALLY wanted to like the M50 but it just doesn't drive like an M. The F85 is a gorgeous car. The F95...just can't get on the boat on this one. So...I'm pretty hesitant to buy this thing without even driving it. And...I'd have to buy another winter setup for 4K because BMW changed the bolt pattern from the last 20 years. So now I'm strongly considering buying my lease '17 at the 64K residual. Car will be at 45K miles. I realize this is not a great deal, but we know how we drove and maintained it, and love the color combo (long beach blue/silverstone). I plan on buying an exclusionary warranty and keeping it to 7 years/100k. Am I a fool for thinking this is a reasonable idea? Any comments welcome. I intentionally posted this on the F85 forum as well please don't shoot flames at me.

Any new product would have the least discount early in its lifecycle because it is the latest and greatest and people want to be the first to own the car, year one issues be damned.

By the time 2024 rolls around, the X5M will be old news and BMW will have to discount the car to move units.

Yeah the latest/greatest concept has never made sense to me. I prefer tried and true/highest quality and reliability. My uber low mileage 2006 M3 went for a premium price on bringatrailer because I guess there are others out there like me. Not many, but some

Given that youíre not at all impressed with the exterior of the F95 or the interior (I also assume the M50i is a reasonable proxy for the fit and finish inside...excepts seats), it should be a very easy decision for you to pass on the F95. The money shouldnít matter - sounds like you just donít like the car (except probably the engine/handling). If I felt that way about the looks of a car, there is no way I would buy it regardless of price.

It seems to me that the only question for you is whether you buy your leased Ď17 or just get another vehicle altogether (not the F95). If you still truly love your F85, then maybe you buy because itís the devil you know. If youíve enjoyed it, but youíre ready for something new/different, then donít. Have you considered a different vehicle?

I personally love the exterior/interior (in the pictures) of the F95 so Iím holding out. In fact my only concern with the F95 - having never driven it - is whether itís ride will be too harsh around town. If I decided against it for some reason, Iíd likely go Cayenne turbo...but probably be pissed about the extra $$$.

I'd love to get the Cayenne turbo but just can't spend 150 on a car as much as I want to talk myself into it. Maybe I just need to try harder!

I'm in Canada too. When I configured the X5MC with ultimate pack or whatever it's called, the lease payment with zero down/taxes/ 24,000km came out to roughly $1000 more a month than the M50i. As much as I love the vehicle, it's a big jump in price.

Just going back to the original post, I saw this Car and Driver article released today (link below) which is very complimentary of the M50i. I thought it was relevant to the OP because it seems to suggests the M50i has plenty of muscle, sportiness and luxe for most everyone except true M diehards (my words not the authorís).

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.car...y-the-numbers/

Iím still holding out for the X5MC, but my decision has more to do with the cosmetic differences (exterior and interior as well as color options for both) of the F95 than the increased power/handling. To be clear, I obviously like the way the M50i looks too and would definitely buy it if the F95 didnít exist. I just like the way the X5MC looks a little more.

Overall the wifey (and I) are enjoying our M50i w/DHP, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the specialness of our 2018 X5M beast. You need to own a genuine ///M series to understand it. Look at the skid pad differences in the article. The F95 is going to be that much better too. Regardless, it's the wifey's car (X5M was overkill for her, not me!), and I still have my M3CS to enjoy.

That thing looks great - especially without the reflectors...itís a small thing but makes a big difference IMO. I bet your wife loves it, perhaps more than she would enjoy the more extreme F95 anyway.

Absolutely agree with you about the reflector delete. It's actually just a $2 piece of vinyl wrap. Before and after with my winter setup

Oh my God, that is sh&t hot! What color interior?

My allocation for a F95 finally landed Friday. Iím going with Marina Bay Blue which I understand is very similar to SMB. Jesus, I hope mine looks half as good.

I was looking at both options & ordered a M50i. I just can't justify the difference in price with a XM5. Plus M models get much smaller discounts ( I got 11.5% off list before $4750 incentives)0-60 in 3.9 is pretty awesome for a 5300 lb SUV. My guess is the XM5 will cut 2/10 of a second off that. Skidpad will be better, but at what cost in ride quality & who's really slinging something this big around a skidpad?
And I really like the glass control & luggage pkg options & standard fog lights on the M50i - not available; on the M. Lastly I love the 747M wheel option on the M50i. Not thrilled with the XM5 wheel choices

What suspension setup did you go with on your M50i?

There was a thread separating X5M from X5M comp and the consensus was - there is not much separating them - same suspension, same torque, just some cosmetics.
so if one needs to decide M50 or X5 M base - what will truly separate them? M50 runs 3.8 to 60 and 12.3 sec 1/4 - maybe X5m will shave .3 sec of that

Equally equipped I get pricing pretty close to each other.
X5 M is 110K with exec and driving assist pack, and M50 is 107 with similar options to match M standard equipment

What I like about x5 M vs M50
- Better engine with 100 more HP and better revs
- Better cooling
- Ability to get active roll stabilization without the active steering
- Better suspension
- More driving modes configurable
- Ability to switch modes on steering wheel with m buttons instead of looking for toggle on center console
- Arguably more fun to drive
What I do not like about x5 M vs M50
- Not able to get standard comfort seats from M 50 Ė not a fan of comp seats. I think regular x5 M should have them as option ( like x3M)
- No trailer hitch Ė that is a big one Ė I carry bikes all the time (hence reason for SUV) and hitch is needed -so need to go aftermarket
- No 20Ē wheel option Ė would prefer light 20Ē rims - will Have to buy aftermarket
- Rougher ride
- Torque is higher up the rev range for around town crawling
- Fuel economy (Pulling at straws here)
I was told, haven't been able to confirm this, the X5M and M50i share less than 30% of the same parts. A BMW driving instructor at the MPerformance Driving School in California that I went to told me this.

This is also when I learned that of all the M's that I have owned that I likely never even scratched the surface of their capabilities because I didn't track them.
