Skidpad will be better, but at what cost in ride quality & who's really slinging something this big around a skidpad?
And I really like the glass control & luggage pkg options & standard fog lights on the M50i - not available; on the M. Lastly I love the 747M wheel option on the M50i. Not thrilled with the XM5 wheel choices
Makes sense. I wish the styling in/out was more my taste; I would've been more tempted. But...getting back into my F85 after testing the M50...there's just something about the razor sharp steering/suspension/brakes/transmission that makes an M an M

I agree the XM5 will be a sharper handler, but it does come at the cost of a harder ride, no question about that. And I also noticed in the configurer if you want anything but black Merino, it's $3500 more.
In the M50i the ivory/blue Merino option is only $1K more.
Trim as well- I don't want aluminum or carbon fiber. Others are another $1k, & I don';t like any of them. With the M50i I went with fineline wood at no extra cost.

Clearly we each have the car that suits us. Which answers the question why does BMW make them both

This is not true. You can have orange, silverstone, white or a few other colors for no charge. Guys it's the X5M not the XM5 you make it sound like a vacuum cleaner.

On the X5M, Black Extended Merino is the only no cost interior. Every other option is Full Merino which is an additional $3500.

On the X5M Competition, Full Merino is a no cost option if you don't want the base Alcanatara Cloth combination.
