Cerium Trim

Can anyone share their experience cleaning the Cerium trim specifically the side view mirrors. Mine got something on it leaving a noticeable mark. Tried cleaning it off with rubbing alcohol and microfiber towel. Helped some but still noticeable. Wondering if it can be polished using something like Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish then followed up with a wax. My hesitation is the finish is a dull gray plastic as opposed to a paint.

I use this on the X3 M40i with the Cerium Trim (which is a pain to keep clean) but this helps a lot. Use with micro fiber cloth.
