Came down to CB or BSM for my current build. Went with BSM. What I find odd is that sapphire is a blue stone, therefore shouldn’t black SAPPHIRE metallic be the color that has the blue? And nothing is more black than “carbon” so it’s equally odd that it’s the name of BMW’s blue -ish color.

That is a beautiful color. To me it turns almost green in certain lights and dark black in others. I think it's the best color bmw makes aside from dravit which gets me to drool when I see it.

After I ordered CB I couldn't decide between the two. Ended up calling the dealer to switch to BSM but it was too late. Fretted for weeks while my car was being built thinking I had a purple/blue car coming. First BMW so wasn't educated on all the color options.

After 6 months with the car, here's my take. Carbon Black is a crazy color. It looks different all the time. Sometimes it's like this really mean looking darkish "carbon" blue, and sometimes it looks more black. In direct sun it looks like a sporty dark blue. The color really grew on me and I get a lot of compliments on it.

Side by side, I think CB is the more interesting color. But dark black cars always look cool too.

Tough choice for sure. Mine is CB, but I like them both.

I went with BSM, as it was my first black car! It’s definitely tough to take care of as I already see micro scratches on the paint despite only hand washing it. I didn’t invest in PPF which is one of my biggest regrets.

I did add PPF to the rocker panels several months into ownership because they kept getting scratched by me and my passengers (paint corrected then applied).

I actually find BSM very easy to take care of. It's a very forgiving color. You likely don't have micro scratches but probably aren't drying it correctly. What are you using to dry the car?

BSM is interesting in that it looks shiny black most of the time until the sun hits it and your standing at the right angle…you then can see all the different color metal flakes…then it makes you wonder how all these different colors are in there…but the vehicle looks black?

For example, the pic below shows all the colored flakes in BSM when i opened the door to dry my f06 after washing it. The sun was high in the sky and hit the door jamb at the right angle & illuminated the metal flakes…but you can see the part of jamb still in the shadow along the right side of the pic which still appears all black.
