I can change a tire and have done so several times, but run flats are a winner in my book. I buy the tire warranty so I’m not shelling out any money at the time of service.

nowadays, manufacturers don’t even offer a spare in many cases due to the run flats’ track record (as is the case with both our 45e and 530e). just because you find no benefit for them doesn’t give you the right to make such a statement
Oh so touchy!
I'm sorry, I have now edited my post for a more politically correct and accurate one.

hehe i didn't mean for it to come out that way. just saying that many opinionated replies are one-sided without regard for others' experiences or situations.

While you may not live near any, you may drive through some while on a trip…there are places where it is both unsafe AND illegal to stop such as tunnels, causeways, bridges, etc. You have to continue moving until you get to a pullout safety zone. Do that with a normal tire, and you may be buying a new rim and potentially fixing some suspension components that might get damaged if the tire comes off the rim along the way. You don’t always have the option of stopping and replacing or patching a tire before worse things happen. RFT have gotten better over time, and some brands and models are better than others, but they do have their place.

I run runflats, and throw a full-size 20 inch wheel and run flat in the trunk for roadtrips. Tools and camping equipment go in the under trunk; the spare wheel is washed and dried, and its center is packed out.
I opted not to do minispare as there’s a limit on both vehicle speed and miles you can drive on it….

Wow, you're-the-man! That is what I would really prefer as I've never liked the temp mini limited spare but there's no way that would work for me when we go on trips. We're gone for two to three months and the car is absolutely packed to the gills.

Replaced the 20" OEM Pirelli runflats with Pirelli AllSeason goflats. Bought at SamsClub. Lifetime rotation, balancing and flat repair, all for $80. I ordered the OEM spare tire option so no anxiety on road trips.Ride is improved as is road noise reduction. Very happy.
