Just saw this clip from a 7 series on ID 8.5 which solves a big pain in the neck problem with comfort access so quickly went to my car (LCI which has iDrive 8.5) excited but I don't see that "exclude home" option there. Can someone else with ID 8.5 check this also? Annoying that BMW hasn't implemented it in all cars.

Unfortunately the geo-fencing didn't make it into the version of 8.5 that is being distributed.

This is my biggest problem with Comfort Access. I hope they do implement the "Home" toggle in a future update. But I hope they allow us the ability to toggle both lock and unlock functions when at "Home". I have no interest in locking my car in my garage when I head into the house.

which is why I disabled auto lock when walking away. the vehicle has actually failed to auto lock a couple times, so I prefer to have full control to ensure my vehicle is locked (increased security), then when I’m home, I can just enter my home

The issue I would have with that is if I'm listing to an audible book, and walk away from the car, and it doesn't lock, it keeps playing...

Just push and hold the volume button in for a few seconds to power down iDrive.

Just set it to go to automatic idle state when you open the door.

I also need this option. I have to turn off the comfort access auto lock feature so my car doesn't keep auto locking and unlocking every time I am in my garage at home. Still hoping this will be in a future update.

I like the feature but yes it is not perfect, and it is the kind of feature that has to be perfect to be valuable. I have parked and assumed the car was locked only to discover an hour later than it was not. Oddly, it is most likely to fail if my departure involves opening the tailgate.


Anyway, I have now trained myself (more or less) to listen for the locking sound as I walk away.

That feature has been on a few of my vehicles, but I don't find it a big deal to just touch the door handle to lock the vehicle if I want it locked. Since I have to touch the door handle to get in, it really isn't a big deal that it doesn't unlock as I approach. If I have passengers, I may be opening their door, or they can just wait a moment, or, worst case, I actually dig the fob out of my pocket.

Hopefully it will show up sometime for the X5 since they released it for some other models.
