That is not the latest version so you should be fine. I don't think we have seen any common issues being introduced.

This update went fine no hitches, but the previous one bricked the car.

If this happens to people and it's stuck in the garage, call BMW and try to get it elevated, some kind of tech remotely enabled the car again and it was fine.. I just drove it to the dealership to get it updated instead of having a tow truck drag the car there.

Been a good 6 weeks since "preparations for upgrade to version 03/2023.67 complete". What is the significance of this version? Year 2023?

Driving a 2019, iDrive 7. I booted the iDrive via the volume knob today. Car remains parked in a garage. Still nothing..........

I read this thread and tried the following after the software had downloaded to the car and was waiting for the install prompt.

(1) I plugged the trickle charger, waited until fully charged. ~12 hours
(2) I checked iDrive, but no message to upgrade software.
(3) iDrive off. I used Bimmerlink and cleared all errors (not just the head unit errors, but all). Charger still connected. iDrive on, no message to upgrade.
(4) Let trickle charger top off the battery again
(5) I repeated step #3 again
(6) This time I got the install prompt when I turned on iDrive, I accepted, let it upgrade. All good now.

I’ve tried everything listed here from clearing codes to charging my battery well over 90% to parking it outdoors and the car just wouldn’t give me the option to install. I give up at this point. Insane how I’ve done this atleast twice before without any issues but somehow this one is different.

Bought the vehicle in 8/2023 and a few weeks later, I installed a software update.

Just now, I installed V.11/2023.50. So far I'm 2 for 2. Don't know what I'm doing wrong..

I manually charged both batteries to full 13.0v, cleared fault 038400, fault still returns. No update takes place, frustrating. Currently on 3/2023 that was dealer installed.

If I remember correctly the fault 038400 indicates RSU fault because handbrake is not set.

No, it is a general error and not specified. Definitely not the parking brake though.

Did you keep the charger on when trying to install?

By manually, you don't mean that you connected the charger directly to the battery do you? Hopefully not as that can cause various issues.

I disconnected the batteries from the car and charged them, yes I left charger on charge points also when finished and batteries reconnected to no avail.

Not that it will help us but it seems like they may have figured out the update process for the 8/8.5 vehicles. Unfortunately they likely won't do anything the the iD7's.

So I FINALLY got mine to update after being frozen on waiting for installation.

I have a 2020 X5 xDrive 4.0, and went from 03/2023 to 11/2023. I have the original 12V and lithium ion battery.

My steps will differ in that I have a voltage stabilizer / battery charger. I tried a 4A trickle charger but it did not work for me, but I also did not come across this thread until after i got my voltage stabilizer / battery charger. I did this in my garage at a 1 degree incline and it was 67 degrees outside. My hood was open for the entire upgrade process.

I got a free trial to use my car's AT&T mobile hotspot, sorry but I don't know if this would have changed the outcome or not for me.

1. Let car sit overnight to completely cool down.
2. Pop hood and plug in voltage stabilizer or battery charger that can maintain 14.0V when requested by the vehicle (something that will let you set to 14.0V or 14.4V and has 20A or over).
3. Get inside car, ensure door is closed. Confirm in xView (Car > Driving Information > xView) that you are parked at less than 12 degree incline. Confirm your phone is with you as well as your key.
4. Confirm parking brake is set and car is in park.
5. Put the car into diagnostic mode. iDrive will remain on. Turn off external lights.
6. Go into bimmerlink, and clear all codes that you can.
7. If not in your sensor values menu in bimmerlink, bring in "supply voltage" and confirm it is 14.10V.
8. Unplug your OBD2 plug or bluetooth dongle.
9. Exit diagnostic mode by pressing the start / stop button once.
10. Press start / stop button again to turn on iDrive. At this point, I was prompted to upgrade.
11. Upgrade took about 20 minutes, and was successful.

Hope this helps someone.

What power supply are you using to achieve 14v?

I would think just about every charger out there will. I use a Schumacher SC1281 and it works fine.

The trick here is the 14v, I have a USB jump pack I can put into emergency mode that produces 14v but it only does it a short time. It does it long enough to have the car let me do the update but then it goes back to not 14v and the car says sorry still have to do later. I need to go to the store and find something that will produce a constant 14v.

Getting close! Maybe a big jumpbox will work?

It seems more uncommon for the upgrade to actually work than it should be. I got mine updated from 11/2019 ( i believe ) to 03/2023.67. I think I'm just going to keep it there unless there is something that 11/2023.50 solves. Other people are having brick issues and it just seems not worth it to me to risk it.

As I said, just about every charger out there will use around 14v for charging. Also keep in mind, there is no magic volt number to get the install to work. While it did for the OP and me, it didn't for others or for me on the M340i.
