tl:dr: I like x5mc, yolo!


I just got my gal's X5MC today!

After failing to find one that matched what we wanted (Tanzanite Blue and every option especially the comp pkg), we were relegated with the idea we'd have to special order one. It took 3.5 months last time we ordered a Bimmer (loaded up F33 in 2018). But luckily she discovered a dealer in Lubbock where's she's stationed at, had an allocation for an early Jan 2021 build. So we jumped on it.

She got it Saturday less than 3 weeks after ordering it and immediately shipped it to me in Vegas so I can have my friend's trusted shop do the ceramic and PPF stuff. And then drive it back out to her. No way I'd let a hick town in Texas do that kind of detailed work.

This thing is is stupid fast, but it sure doesn't feel like it, that is until you glance thru the HUD. It's exactly like what everybody seems to have said with the speed creeping up. Very deceptive. And it's so much more digital and technical compared to the M2C we have. This is our 2nd Bimmer in the stable and the 4th purchased overall. On top of the M2C (my absolute favorite car!), we've also had an E93 and that F33. Both of these hard top convertibles were bad ass, but she wanted a bigger car thats tall. And once I got the M2 in 2019, I was struck with the M snobbery, so only an M would do. It sure doesn't disappoint.

This thing has super car performance (or real near to it), but doesn't look ostentatious doing it. We briefly considered the Urus because it looks bad as hell and it's def a Lambo....except for the drivetrain. And I couldn't get over that. But the BMW fits my brand loyalty (think prostitute to her abusive pimp), and has some incredible engineering.

Even though it's a silly idea, I wish it had a DCT instead of the venerable ZF8 or whatever. I've only driven a DCT once while testing driving an M2 (mine is manual), but it's such a cool thing, works perfect and is so bad ass. But alas, F95/96s are big fat cars and the DCT would prob deter buyers.

Is it the "hick" town in Texas that can't do that kind of work or is it the "hicks" in Texas that can't do it? Just curious

I grew up in a double wide mobile home in the country myself, but it was in Oregon. We're a weird kind of hick redneck ourselves.
