I guess it was the South Texas heat. Went out to put something in the x5 and noticed this. It doesn't appear that it was vandalized. The glue looks like it was bubbling with the heat and it probably fell off on a beer and pizza run earlier today.
Has this happened to anyone else here?
In any case , I ordered a replacement and two grommets online today.
I'm the original owner and it only has 9k miles.

That actually looks pretty good. Maybe lacquer the glue and leave it :-). 60% not joking.

Egads, quality at its best. Ok, how is the front one, if you go out after the car has been sitting in the sun for a while, can you grab the front one and twist it thereby possibly proving your theory?

It looks like someone took to it with a lighter !?

Are you sure its just from the sun and ambient heat?

I'll try it again tomorrow if I can. I'm actually in San Antonio, Texas for my dog's veterinarian appointment and drive back to my hometown tomorrow where it is usually 8-10 degrees cooler. Whatever is left of the glue is not very sticky at all either.
