Sounds like a water leak like I had. Good luck, let us know.
I tried bringing it in but they told me it would take a few days, since I was out of town at the time that wasn't going to work. I'm back home now and will swing by my not so local dealer 2 hours away next weekend

calls still work just fine

Once the 'newer' TCB came in there were no problems with programming and for now the error message does not seem to be a problem.
Do you by any chance have the part numbers for the new TCB unit? I'm having the same issue with same error message. And from the detailed invoice, it seems to show that they're going to replace it with an old TCB, which carry the part number 84-10-6-836-753; 841013. After researching that part number, I found that it wasn't for the G05. And it does not have in-car wifi and hotspot capabilities.

My invoice is shown in post #20. There it says the part number is 84-10-6-836-753. That is all I know.

I do remember my SA saying that BMW had my dealer take photos to confirm the correct part was being used.

This new TCB fixed the old problems, but I noticed that since that time none of the remote features work on the Connected app from 3D to horn, etc., which I reported in a different thread.

I guess this is evidence that the car does indeed have a cellular repeater and is used.
I am asking if bichoo or anyone else who replaced their telematics unit had to go through an unusual maze to get remote services like 3D View to work.

My remote services worked until they removed my original telematics unit but the dealer seems confused about how to restore remote services.

I have chronicled my ordeal in this thread:

I'm having the same problem ever since mine was replaced but just been lazy to get it fixed since I've hit dead ends so far. I can't send any commands to the car but I can see the vehicle location, fuel mileage etc but that's it. I'll send you a PM and let's try to both figure this out. I'll call up my SA to bring the vehicle in as something needs to be done on the vehicle as all my services work connected drive are a to int and calling them has been useless. The modem reset may work as another member suggested

I am currently in China so I do not have direct access to my car. I have what you have and it appears we both do not have the most important remote features.

How does one do a “modem reset”? I have an appointment with my dealer once back from China, but I just lost my SA and the service manager seems to not be on the same page with me.

foodiewithacorgi Are you having the same problem with remove services noted in the last two posts after getting a new telematics unit?

Did your Monday service resolve the telematics issue related to remote services?

I am curious what worked and what did not like the suggestion toward the end of this thread

No, it's been fixed. No problem since. Also, to get the remote connected drive services working. Just log out of your phone app and then log back in again, everything should work as intended. If not, log out of app, then delete the app and install and sign back in.

Well, this morning I saw the dreaded "Emergency cell system malfunction."

Anyone else see this after getting 7/2019/39 or after getting a replacement TCU?

Apparently AndroidRobot is reporting something like this as well:

Ouch, is yours persistent? The GPS usually goes after a day if the message/fault stays.

The alert did not stay on during all of my morning commute so I will have to see what she does to me on the way home this afternoon.

What feature did the GPS loss impact at first?

That's usually how it starts, mine popped up once, then went away, then it became persistent.

Once you lose cellular connectivity, the mic stops working, call audio is shit ie they can't hear you well if at all via Bluetooth, then the GPS goes. Once this happens, at least for me, the drivers assist stuff starts acting weird. It thinks I am in areas where I'm not ie no speed limit data (it temporarily has it when the car sees a sign but it goes away quickly). The car also likes trying to steer me into places it thinks lanes and whatnot are per GPS even when fully disabled. Let's just say it affects A LOT of other systems so I've learned. No dealer I've called wants to do anything for my car which is getting annoying because I'm tired of my car fighting me to do basic things daily.

I have read your threads and regret you are facing these massive failures. I can only hope for you and the rest of us that BMW turns this around.

Next week, I start three international trips in a row so I will not be driving my G05 much after this week. Yet given my own history with the TCU there is no reason to think I will be spared some more grievances.

Oh BMW doesn't care at all, I can assure you of that based on my 70+ email chain with my prior awful case manager, many calls to BMW NA, dealers etc. They don't want to deal with complicated issues and just ignore you after a while.

Let me know what your dealer says and or if the issue persists.

I have not noticed this alert since that initial episode earlier this week.

However, office demands have been significant and I might have simply not noticed the message. Having seen it once this week, I know it will return to haunt me at some point.

Let me know if it does, I'm taking mine in next Friday to get "fixed" again. Meaning it will work for an undetermined amount of time before breaking.

I also haven't had a re-occurrence since I got mine fixed in April. I do remember they kept my car overnight to let the glue cure and the following day they called someone into do a water test to ensure it was sealed tight.
