Good news.

Now if they can apply some management attention to the OTA updates that would be helpful, and probably save them a shed load of money too!

Maybe I’ll actually try it now, but not expecting anything earth shattering.

Do we need to do anything if we just bought a 2019 or 2020 and still on the free trial? Just curious how the system will know NOT to prompt us for payment after first year of ownership.

You don't need to do anything. If you look on CD you will now see the end date is out 20 years rather than the end of your trial period.

It does not show 20 years. It shows expires next year (2020) just like the image you have posted.

LOL, sorry about that. I must have been sleeping when I posted that since as you pointed out the date is next year. A member here who did pay posted that his refunds was in process so they are taking care of that and doubt there is any need to worry. Folks who have had their's expire have posted that they can use it. I believe a few said they had to update Apps but they may have expired prior to the announcement.

Wonder why only 2019/2020 models. ConnectedDrive site still allows me to 'purchase' this for 240 months for $300 for a 2017 X5.

pault didn't you have a $300 charge for CarPlay when you purchased the car? That should give you lifetime if I am not mistaken? I had a 2017 BMW and paid $300 for the option and that was it.

I didn't order it when I purchased the car, but it has always been an option I could have added via CD. Now they are giving for free I was hoping that would apply to previous years too. Not too bothered, only have the car for 6 more months.

Weird. Figured they would’ve pinched you for $300
