Hi guys, do you have 'dirty yellow oil' inside the laser headlights bulbs when the lights are on? Please see the pictures below. Thank you!

take it to your dealer. these should be sealed so there's probably a leak in there

It's actually from two of my friends who got the x5 with laser lights. The dealer told them it's NORMAL and doesn't affect its functionality at all.

I ordered a X6 with laser lights, I am wondering is it a very common problem for all models with laser lights. If that's the case I may have to delete the laser lights option, since it's limited is US anyway.

no, mine look perfect almost a year later. Keep th laser lights, don't let a shitty dealer and some bad cases turn you away from the best headlights out there

Yea... Dealerships are ALWAYS going to try to turn away work if they can. Shady MFers. All of them. This is why I do all my own maintenance, fluid changes, etc. I don't care if it's free, they suck.

And... they hide behind their "BMW mechanic Coveralls" Trust me.... if they can't plug a computer into the OBD port and have the computer tell them what's wrong....... they can't fix, diagnose, or even make an educated guess about a mechanical issue.

Anyway, that is absolutely unacceptable. Bring it to the dealer and demand replacement (or repair??)

Is it on one side, or both sides?

There are a lot of complains (around 10) for such issue in Russia (reading their forum). Their dealers told that its normal and do not affect its functionality (same BS). Guys prepared collective claim and submitted via lawyer to BMW Russia.

It's on both sides. Not sure if it's a common issue for laser lights only or all lights. Sigh

These lasers are supposed to be sealed. Due to probably limited or modified spec of them allowed in the US, they probably open them here, modify and load it back to the vehicle during the assembly process. I am just guessing.

Go to the dealer who said its normal and have them turn on the headlights on a few of their X5 laser light vehicles on their lot and you and them see for yourself that it is NOT normal. What they told you was complete BS!

mine had PPF over them or they'd be completely messed up outside becuase the roads here are not very forgiving with debris. thankfully they function and look great still!

I just ran out and took a pic of mine. Hard to get a good pic without the phone catching on fire. Damn it’s bright!

So definitely some sort of contaminate in there. Weird. I'll have to check mine. Only 4000 miles so far. Got it in July.

No, there isn’t any contaminants as the lens isn’t crystal clear off axis. This is what a clean lens looks like reflecting side textures from its surrounding housing. Much like how a fish bowl looks looking at it off axis. Very different from the OP’s pics.

Here is from a different angle. You can see other reflections off axis like the orange of the internal housing. There is a lot going on inside these lens housings.

The modification in US is done by software, so it shouldn't affect the inside

Actually they did ask the dealer to show other inventory with laser light, all of them have some mud/oil/dirt inside, just some have a little dirt, some has a lot.

Thanks, maybe the dirty lights are only for a specific production period.
