IDrive version 9????

I just saw a review for a new X2 and the people reviewing it kept saying that it had iDrive 9. Isn't iDrive 8.5 fairly recent? I'm just more surprised that BMW would be going through the versions that fast. Unless they changed how they are doing software versioning.

iDrive 8.5 and 9 are essentially the same. The difference is the base OS that they run on.

iDrive 8.5 runs on Linux while iDrive 9 runs on Android. iDrive 9 will also get an App Store.

Ahh. I didn't know if they were flying through the version numbers or if the people doing the review just misspoke about what version iDrive the X2 had. Thanks for the info
