you know it! lol

it’s actually just a glorified paperweight. I refuse to drill through the epoxy flooring to anchor the EVSE stand

Install properly, they are equal. People keeping bringing up the use of $10 plug causes issue, but the issue is that $10 plug. If you use Al wire for EVSE, cannot bring the EVSE for fire, right?
Don’t like Al wire, stick to Copper. For continuous power draw, it is is 80% of the breaker rating, so 80% of a 60 Amp breaker is 48 Amp….which is ~ 50 Amps if you round.

round. z
Absolutely agree. Although AL wire will work but in general they require larger gauged for the same load. So after all said and one, the cost maybe very similar. I just don't see why anyone would choose AL for a typical installation. I was just trying to refer to some youtuber was trying to show how "dangerous" EV charge is by showing burned or melted components. The un-aware just take it 100%. The aware notice the use of AL wires maybe under spec, who knows. And someone here filled the rest with imagination and claimed the cause due to plug-in setup instead of hardware. The the same video later also a hardware 60A connection is severely burned. The key is follow code and don't take short cut.
