Depends if you're picking up Sat or Sun. If Sat, latest is 11/2019.55. If Sun, 03/2020.24. You are unlikely to have had either installed at the factory.

I was told it also depends on model. The 45e has 11/2019.34 as most recent option. Or are there 45e’s with newer versions? What engine did you order?

New major versions are released in March, July and November (03, 07,11) so technically a new one could be released on Sunday.

There hasn't been any sense so far that I-STEP versions vary by geography. What the software does, coding, FSC-authorized options definitely all vary by geography, but the released versions themselves appear to be global for now.

But since humans have not developed a hive mind yet, service departments seem to have an infinite range of what they individually consider to be latest.

New version on March. Go back on Monday and have then install it, along with any other fixes.

Spoke to my dealer today. My M50i came in yesterday. They will not update the software unless there is a recall or your having issues. Likely will do it & regular servicing.

Usual BS, hence why strong statements that "dealers should update" are and have always been just wishful thinking. My service guy is awesome, knew that I wouldn't accept anything less than up-to-date, and updated at delivery. @MystroX5's seems the same. But most are like yours or worse.

So what version did it come in with?

And congrats on the new toy!

Thanks. I will find out on Monday when I take delivery. I looked it over today but didn't get to check the software version. Really is a terrific looking SUV. Will post pics next week.

I'd ask the dealer to update and/or after delivery, take it to another nearby dealership and ask them to do it. but keep in mind that it will take 2-3 hours.

Got my M50i last Friday. Came with .55
Do we know what's in the March release? Mine has been stable so far compared to my wife's 850. She's behind a couple of minor releases but I will take them both in depending on what's new/fixed.

Just came back from the garage. My car is updated to 03/2020.24. Belgium.

I can't really tell the difference yet. Only did a short drive. I had 07/2019. I had an appointment for controle of my tow hook and putting on summer tyres. I asked them to put on the latest version because of have problems with the navigation forgetting its destination after a stop. Should be solved but I didn't test it.

I think this also puts to rest the theory that 45e have a delay in or use different software releases.

Shouldn't take that long, unless the dealership is not up to speed on the process. When I picked up my M50i, it had 11/2019.34 installed. I spoke to the genius and said that I would like to have the latest software (at the time it was 11/2019.41). The genius said they were not able to do that. Unfortunately, at delivery, I noticed that all my cameras were misaligned, which was a software issue. So techs at the PCD updated my software - which fixed the issue. Took less than 90 minutes if I recall correctly.
