Got rear ended on the highway today. Luckily it happened at a traffic jam going around 5 miles/hr. Three cars including mine. The rear most car hit the car in the middle which hit my X5. The license plate bolts from the car behind me made an impression on my bumper.

This part will need to be replaced.

Will they get it repaired in a collision center or can I insist they do it at a BMW service center?

You get to pick where you want to get it repaired. At least most states have laws that govern insurance companies to not bind customers to their own affiliated body shops.

Sorry to hear. I believe that piece comes like that. It should not have to be painted. Its good that it was just that small piece.

I think that is what the part is called.No idea why the "rear painted" is there.

It is a painted part, but it just isn't the same as the body colour.
