Read the fine print of these "extended" warranties. There is a whole list of parts that they won't cover. When something breaks they will try very hard to dodge fixing it, depending on the cost of repairs. I speak from experience. Again CPO is rubbish.

My point was that if I had to do it again, I would rather pay 40% of what my car cost new and buy a car that I had little or no concern over the dealer voiding the warranty. A car that as a project car (2nd car) I can work on myself without having to rely on it getting me to work. A car that can sit in the garage for a month if necessary. My car is an '09 with 8k miles on it. Every mod I add takes longer and longer to "undo" on dealer visits and there are mods like catless dp's that I will likely never do because I have no interest in "undoing" those. An out of warranty or nearly out of warranty car isn't better than one that has a warranty, but buying used would have presumably saved me $20k-$25k.

The tuned potential for these cars is so remarkable, a non-compromise version of it would be just about perfect.

50-55k plus mods and labor represents a significant investment -- even if you DIY thats taking a hit big time

i guess to each their own ...

not saying it not doable, but long term its a killer on the wallet

Paying $45-$55k for a new one and playing cat and mouse with the dealer on a new car coupled with terrible depreciation makes this a poor choice for a new car purchase if you're committed to extensive mods.

Manual over automatic all day long - though I drove a DCT in a 135 the other day and it was pretty nice I have to say.
Getting raped on depreciation for buying a new car FTL.... ughh

1) in a way. I was shoppig a 335 vs an e46 m3. I still kind of wish I had an e46 m3, I absoltely loved that car. The 4 doors and newer car won me over, but I still dream of that ///m......I'd trade mine straight up for an 06 if I had the chance sad as that sounds

2) got a 6mt and wouldn't think of getting an AT. Test drove both, I find AT cars to be boring to drive. Though IMO the 6mt in the 335 is not an easy one to master.

3) I modded, and regret some things, but love others.

Def do not regret it, the 328 felt too slow for me and I know I would have wished I bought the 335 if I hadn't.

Garage List
1) do you regret getting a 335i and now think you would've been better off with the 328I? ( reliability issues) No, after 50,000 kms ZERO issues... knock on the wood three times.
2) if you own an Automatic! do you regret this choice and wish you had a Manual? Own AT and no regrets
3) if you Modded your N54. do you regret this move ? Pretty much FBO except for Meth, NO regrets

No regrets at all. Bought my 08 335I e90 AT(cuz my wife drives it too) with 44k miles for $26K. Good price and it's also a CPO so getting the warranty extended to 100K is nice. Can't beat the price for what i'm getin out of this car.

For the money I spent? Yes, I've got a few friends who remind me that my new, nearly-fully-loaded 2010 335i could have been a 2009 CTS-V or 2008 M3.

I'm still happy with my car but I'm thinking awfully hard about that CTS-V.

First of all , am about to make a move a go for a CPO bimmer this Summer and it's gonna be most likely the 335i, so i want to know your input on the Following:
1) do you regret getting a 335i and now think you would've been better off with the 328I? ( reliability issues)
2) if you own an Automatic! do you regret this choice and wish you had a Manual?
3) if you Modded your N54. do you regret this move ?
Thank you
1) Do yourself a favor. Drive the 328i first, then the 335i. You'll feel the difference and answer your own question. Personally, I love my 335i (my roommate drives a 328i... feels so different)
2) I do own an automatic, but I also have the 'infamous iDrive' as well. iDrive and Manuals are hard to come by. In addition, I didn't know how to drive a manual until after I got my 335i. Looking back, I'd probably want to find a manual. Someone once told me, "you'd be a fool not to get a manual BMW".
3) I'm just starting and I sat in a modded N54 on Saturday. The driver had me pined to the seat, me smiling from ear to ear.
