2021 Carbon Black F95 X5MC (review comparison against F85 X5M)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I have been on these forums for long time but never posted anything I usually reply to other posts basically I wanted to post a review about my X5MC. I have it so far for a month and my previous car was a 2016 F85 X5M 2016. In this review I will be sharing my thought between the differences and improvement between the two generations. Ride quality When I was watching the reviews and reading people posts the concerns I had that this car would be very harsh and unbearable. My thoughts on it is that the car is harsher than previous module. But the difference I noticed was it rides better than previous generation at higher speeds. Another thing I noticed was that the car will stick to second gear when slowing for a speed bump making it slightly smoother going over the speed bump than my previous car. Which usually would be in first gear when reaching a speed bump. Overall the car rides fine for me but that’s due to the smooth roads we have here. Build quality Overall so far I thing the build quality is on par with the previous generation, something I noticed it feels more refined and better than my previous car but I might be mistaken since it’s only one month old. I like the new interior better. So far I hadn’t any issues time will tell how it would survive I usually keep my cars for 5 years so I might change my view on this in the future. Engine and transmission. This is where things get interesting. The car feels completely different than the previous generation, I thought it would be the same but with a bump in HP. But that was not the case, the car rides smoother when in comfort and flies when in sport. I owned a F10 M5 it reminds me of that car, a car with different personalities I hope this helps members who are looking for answers and reviews Some pics when it went to the detailer for PPF and window tint.

Awesome car and that colour combo with 818Ms is a fave of mine. I had CB on my last X5 and loved it.
I concur on the ride - for me it feels like the secondary ride quality is the minor concern but the primary ride is excellent and a real cut above my last X5. Interestingly I've just put Winter tyres on and that definitely improves the secondary ride - its removed the sharp edges you sometimes get on the little bumps. Having said, its not too harsh for me to be an issue but its definitely better with the winter tyres, I know that's not going to help you with your climate though! |

First of all congratulations on the new beauty !
I had the same concern regarding the engine power since i'm considering the swap and i'm glad you feel that there is a difference between the old vs new generation. Mabrook!

Roads in the south, outside of the metro areas are fine to let her rip. Nothing beats the roads in Germany. Haven't been to UAE in while, but I'm sure it's up there.

Similar thoughts here owned a F85 with mods to around 700hp and now with our F95 modded to around 750. Agree with the ride comments. Fit and finish are equal or better. Seems a bit more crowded up front and less roomy. Seats are nice but I seemed to fit better in the F85. Also the new car seems heavier and although more powerful it seems like it has more mass to deal with. I think the front is aggressive but a bit busy. The previous model flowed better and was a really special vehicle. I had compliments everywhere.

Went from F86 to F96, and F96 drives a lot better. More power, much faster response, much better transmission. The ride is substantially firmer in the F96, the old F86 felt almost luxury in "normal" suspension mode. Could also be attributed to 20" on the F86 vs 21" on F96.
Things I miss about the F86 - sunglasses compartment, analog gauges, and the simpler iDrive NBT Evo. The new iDrive 7 is a bloated clusterpluck. |
