BMW Marketing
BMW's Marketing Department should just run this as an ad. It's better than any commercial they could make.
Also, this is embarrassing for the Porsche Cayenne. It's almost $40K more expensive and can only just keep up with the X6 for the most part. |

I think it's safe to say that the X5M & X6M just dominate in their respective segments of high performance luxury SUV's. And compared to the prices of the cayenne Turbo S and RSQ8, a relative bargain. Well done BMW. Well done. We can all only hope BMW doesn't do something silly with the front ends/grilles with these cars for the LCI refresh.

Pretty good job from the X6M! It's about time someone did a drag race between these cars.
I was really shocked at how "bad" the Audi and Porsche did compared the the X6M. I honestly thought it would be a lot closer. I wonder how the Porsche was optioned and if that would have made a difference. |

The Porsche likely suffers due to the extra 600lbs the hybrid system adds on top of the regular Turbo trim.

The Turbo would be a better comparison to X6M has less horsepower but same torque and 400lbs lighter than X6M Great straight line results for X6M it's a monster in a straight line

Small hybrid motor to electrically assist with acceleration yet the weight of the thing itself nullifies the gain in acceleration. Sounds pretty stupid to me....

There is a gain in acceleration technically, albeit a small one. Turbo S is still faster and more powerful than the Turbo due to the electric motor even if only by the smallest metrics. Electric motors also benefit from EPA estimated range of 12 miles.

X6M dominance. And amazing how good the traction is as well as the 1/4 mile time in the wet.

Wasn't every generation that the Cayenne TTS was available slower than the corresponding BMW XM? Either way the Cayenne has never made any sense to me. But I've never owned one. Guess to some the badge/design is worth $40k more... it never seemed more luxurious than the BMW and if I was spending over $100k on a luxury SUV I doubt I'd go Cayenne.

I think everyone needs to remember that bmw seriously under rates most of their engines. The bmw is probably making 50-75hp more than advertised. Where as Porsche and Audi are closer to their advertised hp. Also, the non hybrid Porsche would probably fair better. And a track hawk would beat all of them.
Either way, my dream suv is still an x5m Comp....I'll settle for a bentayga.

Also really surprised by a recent Harry's Garage video. He had the Boxster GTS 4.0. Weight 'officially' is 14XXkg and he weighed it at 1280kg and that was with 1/2 tank full. Porsche there are protecting the 911 on paper really. Just depends where the cars are in ranking, also some early year model cars seem to be tuned right up, cracks and pops too, then this is reigned in it seems.

The technical numbers are there but I think it's the way it's tuned and this goes for all Audi's - this was mentioned by Audi owners in a previous thread. The RS 6 shares the same fate.
