I just got an email last night from BMW of Seattle that mine had been delivered to the dealership. The last time I called BMW genius was on Tuesday and it still hadn't arrived in Renton, so the turnaround was quick.

Finally got the paperwork signed and should hopefully have it on a transport in a couple of days (ordered from East Coast dealer). May be here before Christmas if I'm lucky, but think 2020 still has a few tricks left up its sleeve.

Just curious what your full timeline was? Also, did yours arrive in Renton when it was scheduled to?

In that case, the commercial charging stations cannot charge the car any faster either? |

And it can't handle fast chargers either. Public charging is only ok when you can leave it long enough for some charge or when charging gives you a nice well located free parking spot |

So what is the fastest charge time one can reasonably expect with this limitation?

Using math to help calculate charge times:
1. 24kWh battery 100% empty / 3.7kWh max charge rate = ~6.5 hrs 2. 21kWh usable battery 100% empty / 3.7kWh = ~5.67 hrs From what I've read online, assuming #2 above is the more likely of what most people will experience... |

Hmm, yes it appears you're correct based on this article: https://www.electrive.com/2020/06/14...in-the-states/
21.6kWh usable capacity in Europe = ~5.8hrs 17.06kWh usable capacity in US = ~4.6hrs Would be nice to understand why such a big variance in usable capacity... |

There is quite a long thread on this subject. But no conclusion why it is lower. |

1. Europe has EV only city centers and tighter emissions regulations... more battery means greater ability to operate in these zones and lower overall pollution emitted due to less ICE use.
2. Possible longevity of system. Same battery with a lower capacity profile may extend the life of the battery pack. That said, increasing the number of charge cycles to achieve the same sum total range may have the opposite effect. 3. Possible compensating for higher power draw due to options not available in the US. |
