New X5 and first wax

I've had my 2022 X5 for a month now. Any recommendations on when I should apply the first wax? Is a ceramic recommended?

you can use a SiO2 sealant like Gyeon Q2M Cure which can go straight on the paint (no pre-existing ceramic coating required)

If you are going to use Gyeon Cure then here's some information direct from Gyeon...

Best practice and pro-tips from Yves Heylen
Q清 Cure dramatically increases the gloss and slickness of the paintwork. It also has a darkening effect, visible on every type of paint. TIP: Dilute 1:1 with demineralised water to make wipe off easier and reduce possible streaks on dark paints.

You need very little on your microfibre cloth, remember less is more, a couple of spritzes on your cloth with do a complete panel.

Or better still get your car professionally ceramic coated.

Thanks for the tips.
I see that Q清 Cure is offered in a 30ml and 50ml bottle. Do you think I can do the whole X5 with the 30ml bottle (and diluting it 1.1)?

Gyeon Cure is available in up to 1000ml bottles so if you dilute it 1:1 you end up with 2000ml which is enough to last you a very, very, very long time. You only need a couple of spritzes on a microfibre cloth to do a complete panel.

I purchased the 400ml bottle which when diluted gave me 800ml.

Theres plenty of reviews/YouTube videos about Gyeon Cure, there's even an official Gyeon video.

Im a huge fan of ceramic. I've always had car paint corrected, ppm on front nose and rear bumper and ceramic. It seems there are some very good products on the market outside of ceramic though.

I used CARPRO CQUARTZ UK 3.0. Applied it myself. It's pretty easy application. I was supersized how good the result is. The beading is very nice and washing it is much easier. I do use CARPRO Reload spray after each wash.
I live in PNW and we get heavy rain a lot and it has lasted much longer then any other wax type product I've used before. I highly recommend it.

The Cure website says that Q清 Cure is a silica-based maintenance spray to be applied over ceramic coatings. Is there another Cure product to apply to the vehicle first and then follow up with Q清 Cure?

As a base coat you can use for example Cancoat Evo https://gyeonquartz.com/product/cancoat-evo/

It also says this too on the Gyeon website...

Q清 Cure proves to be an excellent spray sealant, offering protection even on uncoated surfaces.

Or, if you have a snow foam cannon you can always use a foam cannon applied spray on/rinse off coating, there's loads of them on the market. I really rate Bilt Hamber Touch-On, one sachet in your foam cannon then top up with 1 litre of water and foam your car with it then just rinse off with your power washer. I also rate Autoglym Polar Seal, ValetPRO Snow Seal and Autobrite Magiseal...I'm in the UK so some of these products might not be available where you are.

Make sure you get the B/C pillars . Those show more wear than paint IMO

I am a real fan of Griot's 3 in 1 Ceramic spray. After doing a very thorough washing and if necessary, clay bar treatment, this easy spray on, wipe off ceramic provides great, long lasting protection. Its replaced all my previous liquid wax products...absolutely no residue to remove.
