Hatch hinge paint flaking

Just purchased an F95 X5M. Love the car. I noticed one of the hatch hinges has flaking paint. The other is pristine. Is this finding common or is it indicative of an issue? I've attached a picture.

Thanks,
X

Is this a new or used car? If used, was the hatch replaced, repaired or painted?

Used car. No knowledge of hatch repair or repainting and nothing on CARFAX. Paint looks quite good otherwise.

If it hasn't been painted / repaired and the car is under warranty try and get BMW to address it.

Not that it should happen, but do you have knowledge of where and how it was parked / stored by previous owners? Example: parked outside too close to the ocean, especially Pacific in the west coast of the US cars rust and paint weaken very quickly, I have personal experience. The same goes for Florida in general, too much salt in a very humid air...

That's a long shot but perhpas some debris got stuck in there for a while and applied pressure against the paint. Long shot but life is random...
