IND | G05 X5 Front Grille Install Guide

Difficulty (1-5): 1

STEP 1: Begin the IND front grille installation by opening the hood.
Pull twice on the level inside the cabin.

STEP 2: Using an interior trim pry tool, depress the three (3) tabs at the top of each grille to loosen it from the front bumper.

STEP 3: With the grille tabs successfully freed from the housing, slowly pull the grille away from the front bumper working from side to side.

Step 4: If you have Park Assist then you will have a camera mounted in the center of the grille. Release the tabs and the housing will separate.

STEP 5: Align the IND painted front grille set with the tab housings and press in using uniform pressure.

Question about the appearance of the grill... why does mine that I bought from you guys have a black "background" behind the slats. You can't see through it like the pics you posted

I think the black background you see are the vehicle's shutters that open and close to let air in...they're not part of the grill ...but not 100% sure...I bought a grille from IND as well and know what you're talking about...

We do not ship the front grilles with the active grille portion that sits behind them. However once they are installed it looks like its one big part.

Active Grille

Do you have a pic of the car with the white middle you are installing with the hood closed? I have white and I’m debating between these two looks (all black like the one directly above versus the black with white middle).

All look great BTW.

I'm confused, by switching to an IND grill are we losing the functionality of the opening grill?
Does the OEM one open and close to let air in?

You will be receiving my order from the UK very soon - just want to confirm my suspicion that the silver on the Arctic doesn't look right. Looks epic!

No, the grill is literally just pieces of plastic and chrome. It's separate from the "active grill" that's fixed into the car and much harder to take apart.

You are only modifying the cosmetics of the car by painting the grill, you're not changing anything that's functional.

EDIT....ooops....just realized my post below includes the same photo they have on the installation instructions above....oh well...
You've probably seen this image on their website. The camera is a dark color so it blends in with the black grill. It stands out in a bad way if you go with the white painted middle. At least that's my view. I suppose with the hood closed perhaps it stands out less.
