Need Advice

Hi I am about to get a 2019 X5 40i. 1) Is there anything I can do to the vehicle to make it faster while not making fuel consumption any worse?

You can tune it with MHD or BM3 (boot mode) - neither will inherently increase gas consumption, but you putting your foot down on the x5 will (because you’ll enjoy it more).

How do I get those? Is this something that can only be done at a shop?

For sure - you can download the programs through the App Store or google play. And then connect your phone or your device to your car and then go from there. YouTube for different tutorials - there are a ton of people who have videos walking you through the process. To start YouTube: b58 MHD, or b58 BM3

Are you prepared to loose the powertrain warranty on an expensive to repair vehicle?
And generally, producing more power is done by burning more fuel. You know....physics.

I don’t know these things it’s all new to me. I have one more year left on power train, maybe I wait. What about upgrading exhaust?

You will spend a lot of money to make a little more noise. Thats about it.
But it would not impact the powertrain warranty because it doesnt effect anything.
In general, with modern engine controls, changing parts without tuning will not increase power as torque output is managed by the ecu to preset values.

Get a piggyback like Racechip or JB4. It'll give you 10-15% increase in power and makes the car more responsive. You can pair them with gas pedal tuning which would make the car even more responsive w/o adding power.
