AAA Windshield Replacement G05 X5 45e

For folks that have AAA and have gone through this - is there an OEM glass option? This one I believe is yes. Second question is can we request BMW to install vs Safelite, and will AAA pay the added cost per BMW? I do not mind paying up front so long as they kick back all but my comprehensive deductible.

I recently replaced my windshield through AAA on my 2019 X5 w/ HUD. They did send Safelite and gave me non-oem Pilkington glass. I had concerns about the HUD not being crispy.. but if there was a problem my plan was to have AAA replace with OEM after. But the Pilkington glass exceeded my expectations. Glass is good and the HUD looks just like when I had the OEM glass.

I just had the windshield replaced this week. AAA covered OEM glass and allowed me to have BMW do the install. However, I had to pay up front - they were very quick to reimburse.

Glad Safelite took care of you! Either way AAA came through for us and that is definitely a plus.

comparing all the benefits, i don’t see any membership level that covers full windshield replacement, only chip repair, and that’s Premier level. i have Plus membership. Is it written somewhere else?

please clarify if y’all went through AAA, not your vehicle insurance?

Sorry I see where the confusion came from. Yes this was through my insurance with us WITH AAA. This is not related at all to having an AAA membership.

Insurance laws varies between states, but generally speaking you can pick whatever shop you want and they have to pay it. Ditto with OEM versus aftermarket parts.

I will suggest though that if you insist on "BMW" to do the repair, and by that you mean your dealer, odds are pretty good that the dealer will just call Safelite to do it.
