2 of the tunes I have actually do hook into the boost sensor, unlike the JBD, so we'll be able to take a look at things from both perspectives.

Perf difference, until I've fully dynoed all 3, I'm not gonna throw out the differences, nor which I prefer.

Really interested in getting this done. I would be willing to pay the person to lend his or her car to HPF so we can get this completed.

1 person complaining about the issue doesn't mean anything to me...also, since the customer said they bought through a third party vendor, who even knows if the vendor contacted HPF to begin with? My guess is that the third party vendor didn't contact HPF, and was selling a used FMIC. That makes a lot more sense to me. HPF has been around for a while, and they have a good, solid reputation. There are missing parts to this story.

Haha....HPF still doesn't want me making the drip without some research done here locally. It's still on the table, just need to work out the time to see a stock 335i FMIC.

A thread on the subject. The guys on the other side of the pond got the jump start on this. Apparently there is a member on here who fitted an aftermarket 335i IC on his d and fit.

One interesting question that came up on a number of occassions was the high level of boost of our turbos and the psi capacity of an aftermarket 335i IC and whether it can handle the higher pressures found in the d.

Here's a quote from a BMW document I have:
"Maximum boost pressure increases from 2,1 to 2,3 bar and the new turbocharger has a improved efficiency."

2.3 Bar equates to 33.35874 psi according to a handy converter I googled. If I am quoting the right section, we would appear to be okay.

Okay, but I guess the question is whether or not the aftermarket IC has been pressure tested and to what amount, this in order to make sure andy IC that might be considered can handle the increased boost pressure of the diesel. The gasoline turbos function at much lower boost levels.

Agreed. Perhaps the difference in boost levels explains why the d i/c has a different part number than the 335i i/c.

There is a company in Italy that makes aftermarket intercoolers for the 335d. It is called Domorace.it My girlfriend is Italian and has tried to call them many times with no success.

I will do it. At the end of next week, I will have enough core in stock to build whatever we may need. We can have an intercooler built very quickly since we do everything in house. The guy that's in Aloha, get in contact with me!

This is the amount of core we usually stock

few 335i intercoolers in productions

This is great news! Special thanks to 335dwagon, who I know has been working very hard on this.

Michael, there is some lack of info regarding the psi our d's are putting out. People with previous experience with diesels have mentioned upwards of 50 psi as being common on direct injection diesels, and I have a BMW document that appears to quote 33+ psi for our system. Are your i/c's tested to a particular level of pressure?

Do you have a 335d i/c for prototyping? One other mention: the 335d outlet pipe from the i/c has a temp sensor, unlike the 335i, so please keep that in mind when you consider the plumbing. Here's an image from realoem (item 16) for your reference:

Thank you again, you have a customer in me once you get this worked out.

We can do all that. We just need the car here. We have the ability to fabricate pretty much anything. The good thing is we don't have to wait for material to show up. We stock 1000's of silicones, tons of raw tubing (we have our own mandrel bender in house), tons of intercooler cores (pictured above) 50psi is nothing new for us. Most of our race cars which are 4 cylinders run over 50-55psi and they put down over 250hp per cylinder

The only intercooler we have right now for the bmw is the 135i and 335i intercooler.

Thanks for your response Michael at ETS. I have been emailing back and fourth with Michael about this matter. I hope you can help us out and Ron1n would be a prime candidate!
You have someone also in Aloha wanting an IC for the 335d?
