While I'd love to have this feature the truth is I'm almost never first car at the traffic lights especially in rush hour after work. Maybe sometimes in the morning but I'm usually in a hurry to get to work so whenever I'm first then I usually floor it so I can be first at the next traffic light which is like 30m away LOL

Which dealer are you ordering with? I know Pendragon (Stratstone BMW) e making 1800 redundant so your sales rep might not be around if using them.

Dealer (Halliwell Jones) have been very helpful but they openly admit that owners who read BMW forums such as bimmerpost are much better informed than they are! They heard of TLA last year when it was announced but nothing more.

@ukshoey

Congrats on your order and noticed this week is your build date.

BMW released this article this month and wanted to share because may help confirm you made right decision to keep you current build week.

If BMW stays true to their word, all cars produced after 7/2020 with DAP, except for 8 series, will be able to get TLA through software update. Hope this is true because just picked of wife car last week.

Good news for MY21 with build date earlier than November 2020. Like you say, 'if' they stick to their word.

I don't think the feature will be available to you in the US I'm afraid. Should work for ukshoey though, once i-step 11/2020 is programmed.

I already have it on a MY19 but only via coding.

The interesting point about this press release is that they don't mention MY20 and earlier, implying it won't be made available to earlier models which sucks.

I know it has been deliberated back and fourth in this thread as to whether or not it was a software only upgrade or if hardware changes were also involved.

Since you have it working on your 2019, isn't it safe to assume hardware changes are not necessary to make this work?

Yes no h/w changes needed to get it working on MY19 G05 in the UK.

I don't think the deliberation was about sw vs hw changes, more the build date for non-code minded buyers. Currently the sw code will only activate TLA for 11/2020 build version cars (unless coded). Prior to the press release it seemed that only those owners with a build version of 11/2020 would get it.

The press release suggests that ALL MY21 G05 will get it, including build version 07/2020-10/2020, however that remains to be seen.
For it to work BMW will need to change the coding so that the TLA activates for build version 07/2020 and later, and this can only be done by an i-step upgrade. Presumably 11/2020.x.

Once the psdzdata is out for 11/2020.x I'll be able to tell for sure what their intentions are.

Thanks, ifr!

Unfortunately, I also have the added issue of being in the mysterious MY20 8 series group. The press release is a little confusing as it pertains to my M850.

Is that a G15?

Coding implies the support is there for the G15 as of 11/2020 for both TLA and UCC. I wouldn't be surprised if it could be coded for the 8 series, maybe not fully for a US type though.

Can this be done by bimmercode?

No. Some of the ECU's that need coding are not supported by BimmerCode.

Guess that's covered by g15 from a coding perspective?

I've a G16 and in the UK and will be trying it when the 11/2020 is applied to the car. The lane change was missing on my car when I got it (11/2019) but the codes from here worked and its performed faultlessly so would be surprised if it didn't for anyone with the full DA Pro.

(The G05 forum is much more active than the 8 series regarding coding so thats why I'm here)

Yes I would think the TLA will work for you, once you upgrade to i-step 07/2020 or later, assuming you already have automatic Speed Limit Assistant.

Yes...it seems to be.

S18A in eSys encompasses G14/G15/G16/F91/F92 as far as I know.

wait...do you mean 07/2020 or 11/2020?

I thought in a previous post I remembered you saying you weren't comfortable releasing the pertinent codes for TLA until BMW released it in 11/2020?

Or maybe I'm miss-understanding...which seems more likely Haha!

Technically it works with 07/2020 at least on the G05 and G20.

My position is that the coding to enable would be better delivered once its formally released by BMW on a production ready i-step version (11/2020).

Also needs testing on multiple regions, and I was waiting for updated esysx to support the 07/2020 i-step, which it now does.

Makes sense! I'd be happy to code and test on a G16 whenever you're comfortable

Have you already coded automatic speed limit assistant, and do you have Sept 2020 esysx?
