Advice needed---Pricing in Calgary,AB
Hi there,
I am new to this community and I am very happy that I could joining this community. Now back to topic, I recently moved to Calgary and found out that both of the bme dealers are owned by same company and as a result, price negotiating is nearly impossible,is there any fellow bimmers have experience dealing with dealers in Calgary? If so, how much of a percentage off MSRP can we ideally got for an MY20 X5 |

No idea on the Canadian market since I live in the states but have you considered looking outside of Calgary. I am sure there are more dealerships in Albert and over to BC. Might be worth the one-way rental or flight cost to purchase elsewhere if the discount is large enough. You can even use it as a bargaining chip with your local dealership as well.
If you are willing to make a trip or have the car shipped to you, I would just find the vehicles you prefer, email the different dealerships in like a 500 mile radius and see what kind of deals you can get. You can take those offers to the local dealership and have them match, and if they can't, buy it elsewhere. |

From my experience, although they are ultimately owned by the same group, you can easily play them against each other as they both have access to each other's inventory which is exactly what I did last year.
Discounts historically have not been as high as the US, but depending on how much inventory they have and timing, there still can be some good deals to be had. Once you figure out exactly what you want, get a quote from one of them and then cross-shop it. As well, the Edmonton dealerships are a short 3 hrs up the road and are more than happy to steal some Calgary business especially in times like these.

If you’re willing to look at lightly used cars, ask if they have any DYB (Drive Your Brand) vehicles being returned soon. I’m saving a bit over $20k CDN by getting a six-month old 2020 G05 40i.

Bro, thanks a lot for your advice, just wondering do you have an idea about what % can be taking off from local Calgary dealers? maybe just a roughly figure would be good enough, thanks

Calgary dealers are hard to negotiate with. You can probably get them to match one of the Edmonton dealerships quotes though but it was super painful and slow (by the time they came back to me 3 days later I already signed everything with Edmonton). Calgary BMW seemed to discount less than Gallery. The best they came back with at first was about 4% off.
So ultimately I ended up getting mine shipped from an Edmonton as they were super competitive and it came straight to my driveway. Super easy to work with and if you want a contact name in Edmonton message me. Btw. Inventory & timing will change how much you can get off as Calgary said no way they would do that - only on the 2019 clear outs. Mine was factory order timed with my lease expiry from another brand. Back when I got mine in March 2019, the discount was hard to determine as I was trading in my F15 X5 which was underwater.
A buddy picked up a 2020 X5 from Calgary BMW just a couple of weeks ago and he negotiated around 6% off, plus he got out of his lease on his 535xi five months early with no penalty/fees despite the buyout equating to a little more than what they ultimately listed it for.

Have found Edmonton delaers have a little bit more variety in their stock (G05) as well as more eager for your business.
East coast dealers are even better (maybe due to the volume they sell)? Remember that once you have you vehicle back in Calgary, you will need to buidl a rapport with the service team/service manager as although they will service, it is not with the same care for a vehicle sold from that dealership |

I recently bought a car from my sales guy at BMW Gallery in NW Calgary. Hit me up and I can connect you. I was able to negotiate off 20k on a 2020 x6 x40i premium excellence (top top model) with only 6000kms AND got a killer value on my trade deal.
PM me and we can sync up |

Hi guys,
I am kind of new to the Calgary BMW scene. I have 742 22 size wheels. Any advice on where to get the winter tires when the time comes? Thanks a lot in advance. |

Nokian Hakkapeliitta is your winner for AB ice, although for 22" there isn't a lot of choice.

Kal tire usually stands behind their warranty, while Bmw in 95% cases will tell you some BS( that's normal, we couldn't find anything etc) Edit : avoid RFT, otherwise you'll get cupping on the tire, minus shorter life span, all because stiff sidewall.

20K off the MSRP off the vehicle as configured or 20K off the price of the vehicle with all the dealer add ons like 3M, etc.? Those dealer add ons can be about 3-4K themselves Just trying to get a handle as am looking at a DYB with an in service date in April 2020 and just under 8K on the clock Also would you know if the vehicle is sold as new or as a demo when they are a DYB vehicle. The vehicle is registered to the dealership with proper plates (not dealer plates) so thinking they may have to classify it as demo or used - in which case the BMW Clubs Canada 2% discount on MSRP is not available. |
