So any other Canadians get an over-the-air software upgrade? Not much new here, just that it looks like Canada is finally getting OTA upgrades.

Woke up today to a message on my iPhone that there was an upgrade being downloaded by the Connected app. Interesting since I had completely given up using the app, but I guess I left it installed.

Later in the day I had the attached show up in my car. Then by the end of the day, the prep was complete and the upgrade was ready to install. I was planning to wash my car today anyways so I started the upgrade and by the time I was finished drying, the upgrade was done. No issues, no errors, and apps updated shortly after. Had to redo the Drive Recorder setup and lost existing videos. as noted in the "Info about ...", so I was prepared for that.

Interestingly, I also had a map update today while the upgrade was preparing, and miraculously my 3D view in the Connected app now works again. I had given up on the app but may now start trying to use it again, at least until the new app is completely ready.

The only change that I noticed that I may try is the built-in Spotify app since I have a premium account, but since my phone connects to CarPlay automatically when I get in the car, I typically use Spotify through CarPlay.

This also seem to deflate the n-1 theory of updates that others have postulated. At least in Canada it seems to be n-2, but even that will need more instances to confirm.

Congrats! Finally!

It doesn't change the n-1 release approach. 11/2019.70 was released OTA shortly after 03/2020.x was made available to dealers.

The fact that some regions and cars don't receive it until later, and sometimes much later, doesn't change the release cycle. Some owners will never get this release for various reasons.

'Expect' 07/2020.x to be released OTA Q4 2020, at which point 11/2020 will be available in ISTA+ for dealer programming, making 07/2020.70(?) n-1.

In theory it would be anytime now. I have a suspicion they might skip 03/2020 and jump straight in with 07/2020 depending on how reliable it is.

Seems to be a few issues being reported due to the number of features introduced.

It should be available in this OTA update. I have 11/2019.40 so I assume .70 would be similar.

Haven't been in the X5 yet to update it. Heading out this evening and will do the update.

Upgraded the software this evening. Haven't noticed any differences from .40 to .70. I can confirm that any coding was wiped out.

I-step upgrades will almost always wipe out coding. It's a 2 step process.
1. Program in-scope ECU with target i-step
2. Code in-scope ECU using the car's FA

So I had a long drive to the cottage and I was able to see a few additions to this OTA upgrade. There was the addition of the Window App allowing to create preset openings. The trunk button functioned both in opening and closing the truck lid without having to code as I had to do in my previous version. The other was the addition of the Assisted Driving View which I previously had to code which is now available in the Car settings. The other notable difference is the assisted lane change which I found to be smoother which was a welcomed correction. Spotify was stable throughout the entire trip and no issues with Apple CarPlay.

The Climate Rules App only provided presets for the Driver. So I had to go and recode using Bimmercode App for the Passenger and Rear seating. In the event you forgot the coding here are the coding instructions:

Steering wheel auto heat activation:

Under "BDC" - EXPERT MODE

Section: PFlinRE - search LHZ & IKF
1) LHZ_CCM_IKF: aktiv 
2) IKF_ENABLE: ikf_alle_sitze


Under "HU" - EXPERT MODE

Section: HU_MGU/3E52 (on G05) 
3) AKT_AUTO_LENKRADHEIZUNG: aktiv

Seat heat/cool auto activation:

Under "HU" - EXPERT MODE

Section: HU_MGU/3E52 (on G05) - search AKT
4) AKT_AUTO_SITZE_FOND: heizung (for rear seat heating) 
5) AKT_AUTO_SITZE_FRONT: heizung_kuehlung (for front seat heating and cooling)

Use heizung for just heating and kuehlung for just cooling

So the first OTA update offered in Canada was around 11-Aug-2020 according to this thread. I suspect I am the last Canadian OTA update today, 13-Oct-2020, while away from home on a trip (still Canada) and all of a sudden out of the blue. I am guessing someone at BMW Canada slapped their head this morning saying "OMG, 11/2020.xx is a week away, we better finish sending out the year old software today." Geez.

Anyways, 11/2019.70 is what's offered and I am not going to let it update both because I am away from home and because 11/2020.xx will be out in a week or two and I'll likely get the dealer to install once the automatic camera direction control coding is confirmed to work on it.

Did you have this coded on your G05 on the previous software?

Are you talking about the button on the armrest allowing opening and closing or the keyfob? Or both?

It was the button on the armrest. Originally I had to code it using the Bimmercode App. After the update the button opened and closed without coding.

so i installed the OTA update this morning took about 20 min. After the update i was able to close the trunk hatch by pulling the trunk release switch up on the driver's door. Only problem i noticed is the back up 360 camera view is all screwed up. i restarted the car but that didn't help. i did the hard reset of the iDrive but that didn't help. parked the car for an hour, when i came back the 360 cameras were back to normal
