7/2020 software update

I am due for an oil change in the near future
Does anyone know when the July update will be out, and what it will include?

I was update to 03/2020 the 4th of March in Belgium. So I presume if you do it after the weekend it should be available.

ISTA just released or just about to be released shows 07/2020.25 as available for S18A (G05/G06/G07), so it is now either available to dealers on the ball or about to the available to such. Lesser dealers will start installing it in 2022 or so.

Any word on the update being made available to dealers soon for any other cars? Such as the G30?

G030 is mainseries S15A, right? In that case ISTA 4.24.12 includes 07/2020.25 for S15A as well, so I would expect similar availability timing to G005/S18A.

Yeah S15A covers G30. Great.

Does it note covering MY2020 and does it note features in the update or just the broad lines covered?

At this point, I think we expect every update covers every car in the specific model. I am just looking at released data files, no idea what's in them. Suspect that BMW doesn't know what's in them either.

I was just at my dealer this morning for an oil change. I asked about the next update and Android Auto. They didn't have the update and didn't know when they were going to get it or when it would be released. He said he would check for me and get back to me on it.

If BMW continues their current pattern of only pushing out the last stable version prior to the current version, I won't see it until the 11/2020.xx update since I'm currently on 03/2020.31. I'll bet since it's a major update theirs going to be bugs. Most likely with Android Auto compatibility.

The Connected Drive people keep telling me it will be an OTA update. We'll see.

Just curious, where do you get this info? The sw links in the other forum has gone static for a while.

There are multiple sources, some are faster or different timing than others sometimes, even sometimes with the same people :-) — I suspect it's due to differing posting rules. This particular info just comes from examining psdzdata lite that was made available a few days ago ahead of the ISTA release associated with that psdzdata database. I'll send a PM.

To be precise, the "back one major version" is a theorized and reliably observed OTA "rule", which also seems like a rather good idea considering BMW QA capabilities. Dealers can generally install real latest, although many have stale or uninformed definitions of "latest" as well as, sometimes but rarely, real legitimate restrictions.

From the press release, it seems that 07/2020 update should be available soon for download on BMW models with iDrive 7

btw, BMW also claimed Remote Software Update has been available since 2018 though none of us were able to download an update until Mar this year and the download was made available for previous version

2018 was the date of the marketing breakthrough.

I was planning to book an appointment with the dealer to get some minor issues resolved. This seems like the reason they were not sure when the latest software would come out. I am more than willing to delay coming in if that means I can get the 7/2020 version. Hopefully they will give me some updates soon now that it's July.

I got my car serviced today and advised issues with Apple Car Play, requested to update istep to July 2020.

They updated to March 2020, looks like they don't have the July update as of yet. They advised that this is the latest version they have.

07/2020.25 is available at some dealers, and slowly being pushed to others. It's a major upgrade, the biggest since the G05 was released, so bound to have some bugs.

Might be better to wait until its been through a few point releases first.
