Maintenance Plan Purchase Option for Brakes/Pads/Rotors

Hi everyone,

The dealership I picked up my new car from is offering a discount on the Maintenance Plan for Brakes (and pads and rotors). They indicated that when pads are changed, they change the rotors as well to ensure optimal life in sync. They said the typical pad and rotor change is about $1,500, and the maintenance plan is offered at $1,250, which they were able to bring down to $1,000. Value-wise, it seems worth it, but for a 3-year lease at 10K/yr, would I without-a-doubt need at least one visit to service the brakes?

In my current F15 (waiting for my G05) I'm at 74k+ miles and had not needed new rotors or pads. If you're only going to put on 30k max I would say not worth it for a lease. I doubt the G05 rips through brakes that much faster but perhaps someone else could chime in.

Unless you are ride the brakes a lot, you should not need new brakes in 30k miles. That being said, with your location of NY, NY, if you will be doing mainly stop and go city driving, they will wear down sooner. I'm upstate and I've gone 90k with just a front pad change.

Don’t you normally get one set of pads changed before rotors and pads done together???

That's what I thought! But they told me that they change them together to prevent unparallel fade....

I'm in the exact same boat and declined brake coverage as well. Based on what others have said, hope it won't be an issue!

When rotors are changed they must put new pads on, but if pads are changed they dont need new rotors. You should normally get double the life out of the rotors than pads. If they are saying otherwise they trying to rip you off. If there’s life in the rotors insist they only change the pads. Your warranty wont be affected.

Just hit 10k miles on my m50i and needed new front rotors and rears resurfaced, along with new pads. Had 0mm remaining on the front

Glad I got the maintenance plan as I left the dealership with a $0 bill and I’m sure I’ll get my money’s worth of rotors and pads from my driving style and being in NYC traffic... everyone’s situation is different

Thats insane! I have not been able to find the M front brake pads for my 40i.

im also surprised by the need to change rotors so often on BMW's. Ive never had to change rotors on any of my Lexus cars even as they reached 160k +.

my dealer ripped me off hard with the 3 year ultimate care+

I looked on the contract and it was 1295. From research, I saw this plan is supposed to be 600 or 700 tops.

I called them and told them that I wasn't very happy that they took advantage of me like this and gave it to me for free.

FYI: The maintenance plan is $700 for 3 years, advertised directly on BMWs website.

My man, you need to lay off the juice lol. Eating brakes in 10K miles mean you drive like a crazy person.

I too am in NYC and cannot go through brakes that fast...not even on a modded 550 hp Jeep SRT that I had. Took me 25K to go through the brembos.

My 2019 40i has 26k miles and I'm on the 3rd set of msport break pads. Granted I drive more aggressive than I probably should and always in sport plus; but the maintenance plan paid off more than once. When I got mine cost to the dealer was $700 and I got it for $700 so unless prices for the dealer have gone up I'd try to squeeze a bit more out of them.

Dealer did mine at 45K miles and he resurfaced the rotors on the vehicle. I drove it for another 10k without issues before getting my G05
