X5 Stuck in NorCal Railyard
Ordered March 6th, completed production June 23rd (covid delays). The car went through the Oxnard VDC earlier this month and for the last 8 days has been sitting in a Richmond, CA rail yard waiting for a very short drive to the dealership (Concord BMW). The salesman can't even give me an estimate for when it'll arrive which seems counter to what everyone else has experienced.
Anyone else experience similar delays with NorCal deliveries? |

Mine is now at the port... May I ask how long did it take for your order from CA port to dealer?

Perhaps this is why my X5 has been stuck "In Transit" for 5 days, given that the transit time from Oxnard to the S.F. Bay Area is only 5.5 hours (by car).
July 24th: "At the Port" (and I'm guessing this is Oxnard, CA) July 25th: "In Transit" July 30th: STILL showing "In Transit". I thought that from Oxnard, the 'transit' was going to be via a truck auto trailer, but what you're suggesting is that maybe yours was placed on a train after the Oxnard vehicle distribution center (VDC)? Sure feels like forever since the "In Transit" start date of July 25th. Quote:

Mine actually registered as being "At Port" twice, once in Oxnard and again in Richmond. It had flipped to "In transit" for the ride from Oxnard to Richmond, then back to "At Port". It took about 2 days to get from Oxnard to Richmond, then spent 8 days there before getting to the dealer.
When I picked up the car this morning, the SA told me the shipping companies are running skeleton crews which is why everything is so delayed once it leaves the factory. |

So I'm now entering Day #8 of "In Transit". Spoke to the Genius on the BMW NA phone number and he said my X5 is expected to arrive at the Richmond railway by August 3rd (today). What appeared to take 2 days for you from Oxnard to Richmond appears to be taking my X5 8 days.
Looks like it may be yet another 10 days before I see anything that says "At dealership". Quote:

My M50i just went into Awaiting Carrier Assignment. I'm in Norcal as well so let's see how long it takes mine to get on transport and arrive at dealership.

So, Just as WCBimmerz had experienced with "At Port" happening twice:
July 24th: "At Port" - Which I'm assuming was at Oxnard, CA. July 25th - August 8th: "In Transit" - 14 days to get from Oxnard to Richmond??? As was mentioned on this thread, maybe due to the "skeleton crew" support things are getting backed up. August 9th - "At Port" again. Perhaps this is now Richmond? If the timeline follows WCBimmerz, it will take at least 8 more days before getting to the dealer. Since being "Dispatched from Factory", you'd think the X5 was built in Munich, just like my M4... I hope the rest of my NorCal peeps awaiting their X5 won't have such as long a waiting period. Get to the dealership already,...PLEASE??? Quote:

After having visited Oxnard VPC, and then super-long transit to the Richmond Railyard, followed by an even longer transit (It wasn't really "in transit"; but instead sitting at the rail yard until the Skelton crew-trucking crew could bring it to my Bay Area dealership..
FINALLY! My 2020 X5 made it home! https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...postcount=2217
