I had the dealer look into it, referencing the SIB, and they did update mine. During the process, they said they found a couple of errors that didn't get cleared the first try, and had to do it again...not sure if they flashed the whole thing or just that update. They ended up putting x.60 in it, and no, they did not put the November version in it.

Unfortunately, if they don't update to 03/2022.xx we'll all still be dealing with this issue on top of all the other issues related to updating iDrive 7. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...06686-9999.pdf

Referenced SIB 090321 with dealer today and mentioned that BMW app shows 2 newer versions released since my 7.2020 version. They installed 7.2021 but did mention they had to perform a battery reset per SIB to get the update to take the second time. Now hopefully that fixes the OTA update problem going forward.

I had to go a few rounds with the dealership, but ultimately got updated from 03/2021 to 11/2021.61 last week for free (as it should be).

First round I got the old "well there is nothing wrong so you don't need a software update."

To which I argued that "what is wrong is I am not getting updates"...and they are included whether I "need them" or not!

That is unacceptable. Especially when you presented them with the SIB that clearly state's they are obligated to perform an update to resolve the issue.

I would have politely but deliberately informed them, after they did the update, that you would no longer be requiring any of their services and would be moving on to another dealer.

Additionally, I would file a complaint with BMWNA for being treated like an idiot.

BMW makes it very confusing too... Which might be why the dealership was saying nothing is wrong.

OTA RSU updates are always 1 update behind the latest available at the dealership. So people will now start getting the 11/21 update OTA since 03/22 is now available at the dealership. But if you're on the forum a lot you'll see people who have the latest dealership update posting details.

OTA is always 1 update behind to minimize the chance they brick a bunch of cars with the update. As happened a few times early on.

I know this scenario all to well when 2 different dates I tried to tell my dealership that the car was not receiving any updates. Of which they didn't want to hear it and said they wouldn't even look at it.

I wouldn't be surprised if when I go there again in a month with the SIB in hand, I will still get the same lip.

There is absolutely "ZERO" reason for any reputable dealer to deny warranty work when BMWNA pays the dealers to do the work.

Talk about total idiotic incompetence! Your dealer fits the bill perfectly. I would look for another dealer and file a complaint with BMWNA while your at it.

I will give them one more try. IF I get any static at all, I will be on the phone to the GM of the dealership and BMWNA.
This is my third new car purchase from them within 10 years. All M vehicles.

One thing odd about my OTA upgrade to 07/2021.85 is it didn't wipe out the one touch turn signal 5 times coding. It is still enabled and working even though only 1 and 3 are available in iDrive with 3 selected.

Has anyone in Canada leveraged this SIB successfully and had this updated at the dealer?
