(1.) BMWNA easily has the power to tell their dealer network to stop with the ADMs in many different ways. Written directly into the franchise contract is customer service and "experience" standards. (2.) BMWNA directly communicates with customers via many channels: web properties, mygarage.bmwusa.com, genius phone line - it would be very easy for BMWNA to message their support of "fair" pricing and/or to very open about their pricing & dealer operations. (3.) BMWNA ultimately controls MSRP pricing And, let's face it, many dealers are owned by large corporations like Penske, etc and it would be very easy for BMW to use corporate partnership pressure to lever them with everything from information to model previews, to availability, etc etc. "But everyone's doin it!" never is & never was an excuse for poor/unethical behavior. |

With regard to point 3 that makes the most sense to me… if the market will bear adms just increase msrp to balance out demand! Weirdly brands are afraid to do this. |

I guess I do not feel so bad anymore-I ordered one yesterday for msrp. Had to look hard for a dealer willing to do this. By dealer for over 10 years wouldnt do it.

Eh, yeah, right now it is for sure....but I am used to getting 10% or so off all my M cars so I don't really feel like I got a deal. I am paying $500 more than my F90 lease was (and my F90 lease was 12 months shorter, too).

I agree with many posters here, ADM is industry wide and with dealerships being independent, they can do whatever they want. Go to the Porsche Boards, you had to be on a list for desirable models or limited production runs. Now, unless you buy an SUV, you cannot get any 911 or six cylinder cayman….or Taycan. Want a Huracan with a V10, get a used one over MSRP or wait forever. So Autonation, Penske, etc. they can sell cars at whatever price they wish. That new GT3 which they specced as a dealer vehicle instead of a customer order, up to 100K over.
I feel your pain, that's what I am trying to say. |

Manufacturers probably won't do much about ADM until they get certain amount of lemon buyback that they also need to cover ADM.

I don't agree with dealer markups but there is another issue most people overlook. The dealerships have to make more profit on each car to pay for their massive overhead. If you only get 5 allocations for these in a year, you need to make the best of it.
I work with a company that has 10 dealerships. Their Honda dealership has almost no new inventory, Acura, has 4 cars for sale, VW has nearly all their vehicles sold before they are delivered but try and hold at least 6 to have something new on their lot. I too would avoid buying a car above MSRP, but also see why some dealers are doing that at the moment on lower production vehicles. If you want a low level X5, you can get one at MSRP... |

Some dealers are marking up but giving you something for it. The dealer I plan to go through for mine has a $5k markup but you get PPF and ceramic tinted windows thrown in. I can live with that.

Went to my dealer on January 5th to order a 50i. He said I can order a x5m 4% discount and have it in 6-8 weeks. I said screw it and went that route. The car arrived at the dealership on January 29th! Picking it up Monday.

Happen to hear from another dealer - same deal, likely April build. Part of me says eff it and go, the other, grab a 23 - only a few months away (to order at least).
