Have you tried a hard reset on it? You might be able to claim something if you have homeowners/renters insurance. I broke mine while moving but it wasn't covered so you may have to come up with something more "convincing".

I just picked up a 46" 1080p 60hz RCA from Best Buy for the price of most 40-42" sets. Yeah, the 60hz does suck compared to 120, but most people can't tell the difference. Highly recommended.

no, i'm serious... the actually screen is not broken, that's just what it looks like when you turn it on... the glass or plastic (whatever the screen is made of) is not broken at all.

Yeah, your LCD is broken. If it's a popular model, you may be able to purchase a new LCD and swap it in, otherwise, it's toast. Best to part it out on eBay or trash it.

Damn that's rough. I'd personally recommend Samsung LED. I have two and they've both been great so far.

Don't leave it on for prolonged periods of time, especially if it's paused or on a video game screen. The image will burn in and you will be left with another useless TV.
